Paradise Valley Christian Church leaders spoke Wednesday about the
trust they placed in Clayton Rex White when he kept the church's books
and served as one of its elders.

Member Jim Holscher, who works for the Casper Police Department as a
victim-witness coordinator, remembered White asking members of the
congregation to dig deeper into their wallets for contributions in
support of the church and the school it operates.

"We trusted Mr. White," Holscher said. "What he did was, he took this
trust and he used it against us a tool."

White admitted in June to taking more that $150,000 of the church's
funds while serving as its accountant. On Wednesday, he was sentenced
to five to six years in prison.*

The sentence was in line with the recommendation from Natrona County
District Attorney Mike Blonigen. Blonigen recognized that the plea
agreement White entered into capped any possible prison sentence at
six years. He urged Judge Thomas Sullins not to consider a probation
sentence.
