ROXBORO -- A 62-year-old Roxboro photographer with a history of
committing sex offenses has been sentenced to six years behind bars
after admitting he took indecent liberties with a minor in the 1980s.
Howard Alphas Elam, who remains free on bond, will report to the
Person County Jail at 9 a.m. on Nov. 1, Superior Court Clerk Deborah
Barker said.

The offense report states the incidents happened in vehicles, on
CHURCH-related trips and at Elam's photography studio -- and also
states Elam videotaped the alleged victim and took nude pictures at
the studio.
