FORT VALLEY - A Fort Valley father convicted last week of involuntary
manslaughter in the beating death of a 57-year-old man who gave his
underage son alcohol will serve at most 18 more months behind bars.
Lee Sanders, pastor of The Lighthouse Church in Fort Valley, told the
judge that Spillers was remorseful for Adkins' death and had spent his
time in jail soul-searching, reading, praying and considering how he
could use his bad choices to influence young men not to make the same
mistakes.
