Jehovah’s Witness paedophile case sentence to be reviewed
A Jehovah’s Witness elder who abused children, and was given a
community rehabilitation order, is to have his sentence reviewed.
There was a public outcry when Michael Porter, 38, was let off with a
three-year community rehabilitation order after pleading guilty to
indecent assault on 25 young boys. The judge at Bristol Crown Court
said he was sparing Porter jail partly because he was “a man of faith”
and partly because he had undergone therapy. The Attorney General has
said Porter's sentence was "unduly lenient".
