JAGOTD Mayahuel (Mayauel) |
Mayahuel (Mayauel)
Aztec
Kidnapped from heaven & brought to earth by Quetzalcoatl, she was torn
apart by wild animals. From her bones the agave plant rose. Therefore she
is associated with pulque, an intoxicating beverage. This version is
nowhere as interesting as the love stories associated with her.
Classed as a member in good standing of the Ometochtli complex, her icon
shows her seated on a blue tortoise shell beside an agave plant in bloom.
