JAGOTD Mictlantecuhtli |
Mictlantecuhtli [Lord of the land of the dead]
Aztec
If you are so he is a god of the dead, you're quite correct. But wait,
there's more. & it will not even cost you $19.99, shipping and handling
extra.
Of course he is the god of Mictlan, & husband of Husband to
Mictlantecihuatl. His icon depictions him as skeleton with red bones. Not
only is he the ruler of the underworld, but he's also the creator. He is
the chairman of the jury of the dead, and the dead are his for all time.
This conflicts with one claim that the dead who have led a good life will
return to live another one. Of course, I am simply recording what others
have written here. If you don't like it, take it up the god in question.
One would assume that gained the god of the dead would be enough, but he's
also the god of the North. His sacred animals are the spider, the owl and
the bat. He is but one of two rulers of the dead, depending on who you
read. Of course there is much more, but this is Usenet after all.
