Very well written, very clearly articulated. But....
Wow. I have to wonder what put the bee in his bonnet.

Wow. I have to wonder what put the bee in his bonnet.

From what I read on his site (I read it regularly), he let
fly because he's been curbing his own tongue on the subject
for so long.
Perhaps it's an admission that he's tired of having strange
bedfellows, ie. xians who disbelieve dowsing and other crap.
Some xians are rational and will keep it to themselves, but
for those that don't...well, they got what they deserved.

Yes, but in the past he's been respectful of religious belief (or at least kept his
opinions pretty quiet.) His column carries with it a sense of "That was the last straw!"
I'm just curious as to what was that last straw :-)

For me, 9/11 was the last straw. I also wonder what took him so long.

Oh yeah. I seem to get the Baptists, the JWs and the Mormons on an all

Of all the people that hand out pamphlets, JW's are the pushiest and
most obnoxcious.
How would it be if the country was run by them? If 99% of your
neighbors were JW's? If you couldn't make a move without one of them
giving you the eagle-eye?
It's even worse than that where the Muslims rule and the Jews rule.

Probably because dowsers and psychics hardly ever make terrorist
attacks on disbelievers and debunkers. Religious fanatics, however,
have been known for this trait throughout history. Do you think Randi
has received the expected death threats, yet? I'll bet a nickle he
has.

He probably has. Should that stop him? Like other kinds of terrorists,
if the religious fanatics force us to change our behaviour or to shut
up, then they have won. It seems that Randi has the courage of his
convictions.
