Jason Gastrich fasting on Wikepedia |
I found this on Wikepedia's encyclopedia.
Notable
Dr. Gastrich is one of the very few people to complete a 40 day fast. He has
actually fasted for 40 days two different times. During the first time, he
ate some vegetables on the first and last two days of the fast. During the
second time, he consumed nothing but a very limited amount of fruit and
vegetable juices, water, and a liquid vitamin..
Matt 6:16-18 (NIV)
16"When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they
disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth,
they have received their reward in full. 17But when you fast, put oil on
your head and wash your face, 18so that it will not be obvious to men that
you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father,
who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Matthew 6:16-18 (King James Version)
16Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance:
for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast.
Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
17But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
18That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in
secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

That's if it's actually there. Doing a search for "gastrich" brings up only
one article - the 2003 California recall election. Apparently, he managed
to get 11 votes in that.

Breatharianism
Living on Light
A breatharian is a person who is nourished by light and has no need for food
or drink. Breatharianism is within human potential, but for most it remains
dormant. Those who feel drawn to living on light nourishment can activate
this potential, but not said that it is an easy task.
One day breatharianism will be widely known and considered the natural thing

Dr. Gastrich is one of the very few people to complete a 40 day fast.
Didn't David Blaine do that one?
Any chance we could drown Gastrich as a follow-up stunt?
He
has actually fasted for 40 days two different times. During the first
time, he ate some vegetables on the first and last two days of the fast.
During the second time, he consumed nothing but a very limited amount of
fruit and vegetable juices, water, and a liquid vitamin..
17But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
18That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in
secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

I vote for Gasbag to try two more 40-day fasts....this time with no
break in between.

Then it is not a fast.
He should go for 80 days without ingesting anything, and improve the
world.

Gastrich has managed to prove something...that fasting is pointless
because it obviously doesn't make you a better person.
Matt 6:16-18 (NIV)

So, how does anyone know about it? Oh, I guess Gastrich fasts in
secrecy like he prays in private. What? Does he have click through
pages on his website(s) telling everyone of his sacrifice?
(Right next to the ads selling discount phone cards.)
Guess god's reward doesn't quite measure up to man's reward, huh?
16Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance:
