Jason's latest devotional (2/21/2005) |
Oddly, it's called "Pride vs. Humility," and yet it has these gems:
"JCSM is now hosting the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia
(ISBE)! This exhaustive reference book has nearly 10,000 entries/files
that cover the various words in the Bible. You can use this free
resource here: http://jcsm.org/StudyCenter/ISBE/"
"I've found a list of 2100 atheists on the internet. These are
atheists that have asked for an 'atheist number.' I'm going to be
praying for one each day. Please pray that they repent from their sins
and trust Jesus Christ for salvation. Here is the list:
http://jcsm.org/1on1/AltAtheismAtheistAgnosticList.htm."
By the way, is Jason representing this "atheist number" thing
correctly?
"My flag football team did very well on Saturday. We are getting along
famously and we won big."
"Would you like a daily dose of godly wisdom? Click
http://jcsm.org/Wisdom.htm for JCSM's Quote of the Day!"
In a devotional dedicated, allegedly, to pride versus humility, Jason
tells you to go go HIS site and get some "godly wisdom."
"JCSM has encouraging sermons, exciting debates, and the Bible on MP3
online and you can freely stream and download them!"
Encouraging. Exciting. Pride. Humility?
"Love in Christ,
Dr. Jason Gastrich"
Pride? Humility?
Honesty...?
"Dr?"

Wow. I'm surprised he didn't give each name its own page.

Wow. I'm surprised he didn't give each name its own page.
I suspected that he might - deciding that each one prayed for will get
a page once the prayer is entered in Usenet.
That way, he can inflate the page count even more.

Jason? Hah! There's no money to be made in that stuff. They don't call
'em the poor for nothing...and the sick, well Jason might catch
something. OTOH, he might do some of it if there were some cameras
around, some of his fellow christians were watching him, or there was
an opportunity to promote his website, himself, books etc.
Otherwise, his time is best spent on the one he loves the most,
himself, stealing content for his website, trying to get others to do
his "research," lying for Jesus, evading questions, harassing those
who do not welcome his company. IOW-trying to appear like a saint
while behaving like a slithering serpent. Veeery unchristlike he is.

Of course.
We ARE talking about someone who saw marketing potential in the Megan's
Law site, after all, and who decided to write to sex offenders and tell
them, among other things, where to find JCSM.
Jason boasted that he had already received positive responses from
those letters, by the way.
Was anyone surprised to read that?

And doing it in humility and without fanfare or seeking a pat on the
back?
I'd be foolish to say "no."
Jason whines that he does those things, but I have friends in San Diego
who are actively involved in those activities, and before I mentioned
it, they'd never heard of him or his "ministry."

Jason, I'm just wondering, in the interests of fairness, can you
provide me with a list of 2100 Christians that I can sin for each day?
Please list their preferred sin if known, whether blasphemy,

one each day. Please pray that they repent from their sins and trust
Jesus Christ for salvation.
Jason, I'm just wondering, in the interests of fairness, can you provide
me with a list of 2100 Christians that I can sin for each day? Please
list their preferred sin if known, whether blasphemy, fornication,
drunkenness, etc. TIA.
I'm not very good at the drunkenness but I'll volunteer for the blasphemy
and fornication teams.
Don't worry, I can make up for a couple of folks' drunkenness if necessary.
I mean, it's hard work but I'm willing to make the sacrifice...

I'm hurt because my name isn't on the list.
I don't drink and would like to fornicate.
How about I just blaspheme the holy ghost every day?

He found? No, he took without permission. Jason, you have no right
to publish someone else's work or your website. This list was
painstakingly compiled by others and you are using their work without
compensation nor permission. At most, you should provide a link to
direct others to the a.a. website, but to post the list on your
website without permission is stealing of intellectual property.
Have you no scruples?
By the way, is Jason representing this "atheist number" thing
correctly?
If correctly, you mean illegally, then yes. And violating at least
two of the Big Ten® at the same time.

A while back I had a similar problem with the twitlist. Someone ripped
it off because they had a problem being elected a twit. It took about
a week to get the site in question removed, email accounts removed,
and so on. And that was *before* the DMCA!
Ask on the EAC list, if you're interested in the gory details. If I
can remember them....
Speaking of which: who thinks it's time to reactivate the twitlist?
Your opinions welcome.

I've been wanting to bring it back for ages myself. But far as the site
itself goes, this little incident has spurred me to pop the hood and start
working on something I've been thinking about that would change the way
the site handles any kind of "list."
