Jehovah's Witless child sex abuse rampant |

I think that these allegations have been surfacing in the news for some
time. What is it about highly religious people and their appetite to
victimize little children? We're not just talking about a few isolated
cases. The article talks about a web site with over 1000 reported abuse
stories and 6000 complaints. Former JW insiders have reported finding
records of hundreds of abuses that have been covered up. Pedophiles who
know the attitude of the JW church probably perceive church membership as
a good, relatively safe opportunity to hunt for new victims.
The article even suggests that JWs "adhere to biblical admonitions
against accepting accusations by a single witness." So as long as the
pedophile gets the child alone then other church members appear to think
that they have some kind of religious duty to ignore the testimony of the
child. Talk about sick.

If anything the JW environment is worse than that which condoned child abuse
in the RCC.
It is very closed and the elders have a lot of power.
I've seen the fear they cause when they tell somebody that if they don't
stop smoking they will be cast out from the church and *nobody* will be able
to talk with them.
Your brother and sister will turn your back on you and as near as I can find
out a child would not be able to talk with it's mother.

Yep. The elders have all the power and the youngsters have none. Maybe
JW stands for Juveniles Worried :).
