Jesuit Editor of America Resigns after Years of Promoting Opposition to
Catholic Moral Teachings
NEW YORK, May 9, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Through three papacies and
thirty years, the US weekly Jesuit magazine, America, has been the
intellectual flagship of the leftist dissident movement within the
Catholic Church. Three weeks into Benedict XVI's papacy, however, the
editor has announced his resignation after complaints from bishops
about its anti-Catholic editorial policies.
Thomas J. Reese SJ, according to anonymous Jesuit sources in Rome, has
been the subject of complaints from American bishops for his criticism
of the new Pope and anti-Catholic statements in recent editorials,
especially during the papal interregnum (the time between the death of
John Paul II and the election of Benedict XVI.) Since the papal
election, Reese has become the liberal media darling, appearing
frequently on television to talk about what he considers the
shortcomings of the new Pope, with whom, as Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger,
he clashed many times.

I don't see what good those teaching are...all they offer are false
promises and fake concern.

You are judging the entire RCC in America because of the actions of a
few priests. There's plenty enough criticism to pass around, not just
to the church. The teachings of the church are infallible, the teachers
aren't.

I'm afraid the cracks have completely engulfed the church.
How infallible are those Popes who ordered mass murder,
war and pillage on millions of innocent people, whose
only virtue was to deny the sour essence of Rome?

Not to mention the large chunk of the hierarchy that is *still* involved in
the coverup.
Of course, no one mentioned the pedophiles and their supporters. You seem
pretty touchy on the issue.
There's plenty enough criticism to pass around,
Say to the new Pope, who was actually mentioned in the article.
not just
to the church. The teachings of the church are infallible, the teachers

Then again, if even the clergy can't follow them, maybe the teachings
aren't either.

According to the superstition they're simply following the hypocrisy

Hmmm. The teachers are fallible but what they teach isn't.
That doesn't make any sense. If the teachers are fallible
then what they teach must also be fallible.

Does that infallibility cover the church's teaching of geocentricity
and the persecution of Gallelio? They got it wrong once... not much a a
track record for supposed infallibility!!

Infallibility only covers pronouncements of religious questions ex
cathedra. Only a few official ex cathedra pronouncements have been made.
Infallibilty as a doctrine was only establihed in 1870.

The Pope didn't have the power of speaking Ex Cathedra® then.
