Peer pressure. A kid invades a neighbours property to endear himself
to his mates or a churchgoer fears losing the respect of his church and
so is much more trust worthy as a business partner. But you won't
hear that in the above story. Oh, no, social dynamics shows church
going is good for the wallet, but they don't go into obvious detail.
Fact is you won't showup in church if you can''t afford to look nice,
if you've got three jobs and need to sleep on a Sunday. Oh, no,
that wouldn't do. No, the nice Church goers need to ignore the nastier
side, the crony side, to church going. Whats even more of a joke,
is how the article doesn't then call for churches to be taxed, since
there is an obvious wealth creation benefit for participation (even
if that is not having to pay for the local cinema for entertainment
when its free down the church!).
Bush, runs to the Whitehoue on the religious coatails and
fixes up whole new faith based schemes funneling funds through
churches and not a mention in the article.
Welcome folks to theocracy, where the unplatable obvious truthes
about the cronyism of religion are ignored, straightout of dark age
school book. Bless them. Bless the economist noless. I thought
it was above such bias.

I read the article. The churches I know about expect you to give money to
them.

The clubs I know of where you make business contacts also
charge for entry, they also pay tax and also are overly
representative of wealthier individuals.
Any service that competes with cinemas, food outlets, social
clubs, should be taxed. The article ignores that religion per se
isn't want makes people rich, its the social nature of the church.
They should pay pax like every other introducing business,
socail, or sex service.

And thee are other reasons that people who go to church may get better
finacially. There are those in the beaurocracy who take into consideration a
person's so-called moral repute in applying regulations in a discriminatory
manner.

Its called religious cronyism and has destroyed many a dept.
of government and even some governments (i.e. the current
administration of the USA). They are cluelessly devoid of any
sense of shame, they believe that all one need do is claim
Jesus as their lord and they will never make a wrong step.
Its amazing to watch good people play that game, buy into it.
Its real name though is fascism, the desire to be surrounded
with people like them, with their values, and remove any
one or anything contrary to their faith.
Bush is a Christian fascist, all the policies of the
National Christian Socialists and no shame.
