Jesus Kamp |
I just saw the movie Jesus Camp. That was an unpleasant one hour and 24
minutes I can assure you. That's not to say the movie was bad, quite the
contrary. I spent a lot of that time with my eyes covered in embarrassment
over the behavior of my fellow humans, and had to squelch repeated impulses
to shout "YOU LYING *****!" at the screen in the middle of a crowded theater.
It was basically an hour and a half of child abuse. You sat there and
watched children being cynically and deliberately manipulated and lied to by
a repulsive collection of hypocrites. It was horrific.
Then I learn afterwards that this is not only the tip of an iceberg, but
that it's often worse than the film portrays.
These kids REALLY need to be provided with an alternative. They were
actually reading CHICK TRACTS!
Gag. Shudder. Grrrrr.

I share your outrage completely. Now how in the god-damn hell is that not
considered child abuse by members of this administration? They should beat
the f'rs running those camps senseless. (As if they aren't that already.)
Those poor kids. They have undergone a trauma that is going to 'stick' with
them for the rest of their lives. 'Revolting' does not even *begin* to
describe what these adults are doing to those poor kids.
(You just wonder how many of these 'Kamps' are in operation!)
Unbelievable.

I wrote the above words in a fit of anger and outrage. After thinking about
it -- and cooling off, I am now writing that no one should resort to
violence against these dirt-bags. The authorities should deal with these
vermin. What they are doing, and what a large segment of the evangelical
community is condoning is as straightforward a case of child abuse as you'll
see. It's downright nauseating. Revulsion yes. Violence no.

Tony Snow -- or even the 'Pres' directly -- if this administration does

Once upon a time in alt.atheism, dear sweet Denis Loubet
(dloubet@io.com) made the light shine upon us with this:
I just saw the movie Jesus Camp. That was an unpleasant one hour and
24 minutes I can assure you. That's not to say the movie was bad,
quite the contrary. I spent a lot of that time with my eyes covered in
embarrassment over the behavior of my fellow humans, and had to
squelch repeated impulses to shout "YOU LYING *****!" at the screen in
the middle of a crowded theater. It was basically an hour and a half
of child abuse. You sat there and watched children being cynically and
deliberately manipulated and lied to by a repulsive collection of
hypocrites. It was horrific.
Then I learn afterwards that this is not only the tip of an iceberg,
but that it's often worse than the film portrays.
These kids REALLY need to be provided with an alternative. They were
actually reading CHICK TRACTS!
Gag. Shudder. Grrrrr.
Thanks for the heads-up. Nice to see a rational review. I'll never see
it, hell I still haven't seen Gibson's snuff flick.
Yeah, but that was fiction!
