JHN 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son. |
First off, I ask all Christian on this post to behave and to bring an
open mind.
This verse brings me to a subject I ran into almost a year ago, when
debating an apologist on contradictions presented by the Bible. I asked
him what God had done to merit my Faith. The first, among many, verses
he gave was this:
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten
son.
The point he was attempting to make was that God cared so much about
his creation that he sacrificed his only son to atone the sins of man.
This statement brought me to question the validity of God having only
one, singular son. I told him that I had read in the Bible many
mentions of sons of God. My proof of this was that the bible stated
that God's sons had come to earth and had 'relations' with the
women. The product of this were creatures call Nephelim or giants, the
most notable being Goliath.
Genesis 6:4 - There were giants in the earth in those days; and also
after that. (The word 'that' connotes the flood event).
Lastly this brings me to the purpose of this post, which is to discuss
the verses in the Bible that contradict the idea of a singular son of
God. This is an important distinction to make since the value of
God's sacrifice depends on the fact that it was his only son and
there were no others. Also if these instances where the Bible says
"Sons of God" are not valid, what does this do for the collateral
evidence provided us, like giants.
Some verses to consider:
Genesis 6:2 - That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they
[were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose...when
the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare
[children] to them, the same [became] (giants), mighty men which [were]
of old, men of renown.
Genesis implies that the sons of the sons of God are giants or some
type of demigod.
Job 6:1 - Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present
themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
Job implies the sons of God were presents during the temptation of Job.
1 John 3:1 - Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon
us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world
knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
John implies that we are as the 'sons of God'.
One quick remark I would like to add. In John it says that we should be
CALLED the sons of God, not that we ARE the sons of God.

This was not a Xian post. I was attacking John 3:16 as contradiction to
other parts of the Bible. Please read posts before ripping on a
possiblely intellegent post.
Lastly this brings me to the purpose of this post, which is to discuss
the verses in the Bible that contradict the idea of a singular son of
God
.

Did you even try and read my post before dogmaticly responding with
your drool-like-responce? The point of my post was to ATATCH JHN 3:16
by using the Bible as evidence against it's self. The basis of the
Christian faith is ONE son of God, yet at times the Bible says that
there are SONS of God. This fatal flaw exsposed within the bible... I
recommend next time reading before responding....
