JOHN KERRY SAYS HE BELIEVES IN SCIENCE.
"What if we find a breakthrough to cure Parkinson's, diabetes, Alzheimer's
and AIDS? What if we have a president who believes in science, so we can
unleash the wonders of discovery like stem cell research to treat illness
and save millions of lives?"
-- John Kerry, Democratic National Convention Acceptance Speech, July 29,
2004

I think that Religion takes center stage much too often with the Bush
Administration.
The Bible-Thumping in the White House turns a lot of Americans off.
President Bush has caused more Americans to view religion with largely
negative influences. Also, I have read demographic studies which show that
more than 1/3 of the American people never attend Church or Religious
Services.
So, why is President Bush putting all his political eggs in one Evangelical
Religious-Right basket? Why is President Bush so anti-science?
Unless Bush and Cheney change attitudes toward science, then this will
assure their defeat in November.

Why does a person have to "believe in" science? That's like saying
"I believe in rocks."
Belief is insubstantial. One can only "know" things to varying degrees
of certainty.
I "know" that there are rocks. I "know" that there is science. I
"know", (not believe) that using science we can make advancements. I
"know" that fundies are nuts, because they "know" something exists that
has no evidence of existance.
Sorry, I just HATE that word, "believe"!
30% of Americans "believe" in UFO's. WTF does THAT mean? That 30% of
Americans kinda know, sorta know, don't know? When statements like that
are made, they are usually made in such a way as to imply that there is
a 30% chance UFO's exist.
PHHHHT!
Stopping rant now. I have to get back to work. I know that for a
fact.

Indeed.

The Bible-Thumping in the White House turns a lot of Americans off.
President Bush has caused more Americans to view religion with largely
negative influences. Also, I have read demographic studies which show that
more than 1/3 of the American people never attend Church or Religious
Services.

So, why is President Bush putting all his political eggs in one

Evangelical

Religious-Right basket? Why is President Bush so anti-science?

Science can be inconvenient when trying to reconcile his policies to the
truth. He is more into revisionist science.

Unless Bush and Cheney change attitudes toward science, then this will
assure their defeat in November.

Not necessarily. Don't underestimate anti-intellectualism in this country.

What if we have a moron in the White House who gets in the way of stem
cell research while the rest of the world leapfrog us scientifically,
making America the Ottoman Empire of the 21st century?

How does one "believe" in science? That's like believing in logic and
rationality.

Blah. There's nothing to *believe in* with science.
The scientific method is simply a methodology, nothing more.

I think that Religion takes center stage much too often with the Bush
Administration.

It takes center stage too much with the single party of which one
side of the 'coin' is 'crips' and the other is 'bloods.'

The Bible-Thumping in the White House turns a lot of Americans off.

The terminal political cowardice towards the U.S. Constitution
and the principles this country *claims* to stand for turns a
lot of Americans off.
The terminal lying of politicians to the American people has
turned a lot of Americans off.
The terminal pandering to special interests, and the buying of
politicians by corporations and the wealthy turns a lot of
Americans off.
The terminal, casual, blatant, hypocracy of politicians to the
American people has turned a lot of Americans off.

President Bush has caused more Americans to view religion with largely
negative influences. Also, I have read demographic studies which show that

Services.

So, why is President Bush putting all his political eggs in one Evangelical
Religious-Right basket? Why is President Bush so anti-science?

Because all the companies involved with the electoral process are
staunch reich-wing fundamentalist American Taliban Republicans.
Because all the triggers are in place to forever suspend elections
and declare martial law. Republican Presidents have been setting the
pieces in one by one.

Unless Bush and Cheney change attitudes toward science, then this will
assure their defeat in November.

Nope. The outcome of the 'elections,' provided they occur, will be the
proper one.
