There are much more important issues to focus on than Kerry's service record
as well, but that doesn't stop Bush supporters from trying to muddy the
waters, does it?
Not that it matters much in the long run, since neither Bush nor Kerry is
worth a damn, IMO. But then, presidential elections more often than not come
down to choosing the lesser of two evils. Why should this time around be any
different?

It would't matter EXCEPT for the fact that Kerry cliams he is the best
candidate BECAUSE of said Vietnam service. If he would run on his
"record" then it would not be an issue.

True to a great extent, and that was a mistake on Kerry's part. Right or
wrong, the war in Iraq is a key issue in this year's race, and Kerry
apparently believes that by citing his own service record, he'll paint a
picture of himself as being more qualified than Bush to handle it properly.
Maybe, maybe not. However, what Kerry (or Bush) did or didn't do 30 years
ago isn't what's important. What's important is what they plan to do for the
next four years. Kerry talks a good game, but so far I haven't heard him say
much of anything concerning just how he plans to go about implementing these
massive reforms he talks about. It doesn't do much good to talk the talk if
you don't know how you're going to walk the walk. As for Bush, well, I've
seen four years of Bush politics, and I'd just as soon pass on four more.
