JTEM, Bush, the U.N. & AIDS |
George Bush, just shy of three years ago:
"[T]o meet a severe and urgent crisis abroad, tonight
I propose the Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief - a
work of mercy beyond all current international efforts
to help the people of Africa...I ask the Congress to
commit $15 billion over the next five years, including
nearly $10 billion in new money, to turn the tide
against AIDS in the most afflicted nations of Africa
and the Caribbean."
- President George W. Bush

JTEM in December of 2003:
| ...The closest they came is when Bush cut
| foreign aid to battle AIDS in Africa, then, through an accounting
| scheme that made Ken Lay proud, he pretended that he
| increased funding. As even by Republican standards this was
| pretty lame, I can't bring myself to call it anything other than
| what it is: Racism to the point of wanting to see Africans die
| of AIDS.
And now it's November of 2005, almost three years after
Bush declared his "War of AIDS," and we can all bare
witness to the fruits of Bush's efforts....
| U.N. Reports 5 Million New HIV Cases in 2005
|
| By KAMIL ZAHEER, Reuters
|
| The 4.9 million new infections were fueled by the epidemic's
| continuing rampage in sub-Saharan Africa and a spike in the
| former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, the UNAIDS body
| said in its annual report.
Then again, what could we expect?
Seriously.
Back in January of 2003, Bush asked for some $15 billion
to fight AIDS... but it wasn't long after that when we discovered
that his "plan" consisted of asking people to not have
sex.
In fact, Bush declared a war on condoms -- truly the only
effective protection from AIDS -- so none of this "new"
money was even spent on that. Where did it go?
I mean, besides into the pockets of his cronies....
There's nothing so bad in this world that Bush can't simply
wave a hand & make infinitely worse.
AIDS is proof of that.
The economy is proof of that.
Iraq is proof of that.
Healthcare in America is proof of that.
The ever increasing number of families in poverty is proof
of that.
The federal deficit & growing debt is proof of that.
Bush is a curse.
