Object: July 1 2004 Family Research Council rant
What a way to start off a new month . . . with the same old tired rants from
the Family Research Council . . .
I'm still waiting to see ANY findings from ANY research these num-nits . . .
something tells me we're likely to see Jesus come back before we see any of
their research, and we all know how likely THAT is . . .

Sex Abuse Revelations: NEA Must Take Action
You have undoubtedly heard of the teacher in Florida who is charged with
having sex with her 14 year-old student. According to a new report released
yesterday by the U.S. Department of Education this is not as unusual as it
sounds. More than 4.5 million students were victims of sexual misconduct in
public schools by teachers and other school officials since 1994. In 80
percent of these cases the adult sexual predators were people who parents
entrust their children to, from principals to bus drivers. The National
Education Association (NEA) was unfazed by the report and actually
criticized its findings. I suppose this is not so surprising since it is the
NEA that advocates teaching the "normalcy" of homosexuality, in addition to
pushing so-called "safe sex" while fighting abstinence education in the
schools. When the Catholic Church faced a similar scandal there was
extensive outrage and investigations were launched by the Church, the media
and the public, and rightfully so. Similar scrutiny should also follow these
revelations about our nation's public education system where attendance is
compulsory. When children are in harm's way, the NEA can not resort to
playing politics. It must decide if it cares about the children or merely
its own radical agenda.
Pro-Marriage Action in Oregon, Montana and Texas
Yesterday, the Defense of Marriage Coalition in Oregon turned in over
244,587 signatures supporting a state constitutional amendment protecting
marriage as the union of one man and one woman. That is well over twice the
amount necessary, and they were gathered in only five weeks - record time.
Officials in Multnomah County, Oregon, began issuing same-sex "marriage"
licenses in May, touching off a firestorm of opposition that has culminated
with this initiative campaign. The sheer volume of signatures virtually
guarantees that the issue will make it on to the November ballot, giving
Oregon voters the opportunity to make their voices heard on the issue and
taking it out of the hands of activist judges who are trying to redefine the
institution of marriage. Two weeks ago, backers of the Montana Marriage
Protection Amendment turned in almost twice the number of necessary
signatures to place a similar measure on the Nov. ballot in their state.
This momentum at the grassroots level should send a clear, resounding
message to Congress that marriage is of high importance to Americans. And
one more note about activity in the states: I'll be speaking on July 4th on
the steps of the Texas capital building in Austin, telling the thousands
gathered that we need their help to protect marriage in this nation. For

FRC's Dr. Allan Carlson: In Print and on the Web
FRC's Distinguished Fellow for Family Policy Studies, Dr. Allan Carlson, has
written two papers recently that I think you'd find quite interesting. The
first is a book review published in this month's National Review of the
book, Taking Sex Differences Seriously, which exposes the necessity of
recognizing the differences between men and women. Dr. Carlson also recently
submitted a fantastic pro-marriage argument to the court hearing Andersen v.
Sims, a Washington State case involving six homosexual couples seeking to
overturn that state's Defense of Marriage Act. You can read Dr. Carlson's
Declaration by clicking below. Be sure to visit our website, www.frc.org,
tomorrow morning at 11am (ET) so you can watch - via a live video webcast -
Dr. Carlson's lecture here at FRC. He'll be speaking about how lessons
learned from the life of Martin Luther can embolden us as we engage in
today's culture war.

Had this been a homosexual incident, these num-nits would be screaming
bloddy faggotry until their eyeballs fell out. But . . . this one was a
heterosexual, so they blame the NEA. When a preacher does it (and they
can't hush it up) they blame Satan.
Jesus H. Fucking Christ Almighty, isn't anything sacred anymore?

to do with homosexuality?

Uh...Maybe because the NEA knows that abstinence-only
education doesn't work. Abstinence + safer-sex education does work.

When the Catholic Church faced a similar scandal there was
extensive outrage and investigations were launched by the Church, the media
and the public, and rightfully so.

The scandal in the Catholic Church is that the church leaders
knew priests were molesting kids and did nothing to stop it, and in
fact allowed the priests to move to a new location with new potential
victims. That is not the case with teachers and the NEA.

Actually, it isn't. Kids can go to private schools or they can
be home-schooled.

Officials in Multnomah County, Oregon, began issuing same-sex "marriage"
licenses in May,

Why the quotes? They were the same marriage licences issued to
opposite-sex couples.

taking it out of the hands of activist judges who are trying to redefine the
institution of marriage.

Oh, so a man can be married to 2 or more women at the same
time? That was the definition of marriage long before the concept of
one man - one woman came along.

Taking Sex Differences Seriously, which exposes the necessity of
recognizing the differences between men and women.

Um... OK, men tend to be taller, heavier, and stronger than
women. That doesn't mean all men are taller, heavier, and stronger
then all women. About the only major difference I can think of is that
women can't produce sperm and men can't produce eggs or get pregnant.
