If these guys were around 150 years ago, they'd be trying to strip courts of

The Short-term and Long-term Strategy to Protect Marriage
As the dust settles on the first go round of debate over the marriage
amendment in the U.S. Senate, the various political camps are strategizing
for the next battle, which will most likely be the Hostetler court stripping
measure now scheduled to hit the House floor in the coming week. This is the
next battle line and as I've said here before, while I firmly agree that
taking certain powers away from the courts is necessary and support these
efforts, including this bill, ultimately to win this war against the family
and marriage we must have an amendment to the U.S. Constitution. That is the
only way to ensure that activist judges are forever kept in check from
destroying the institution of marriage. I believe a national civics lesson
outlining the proper roles for our three branches of government would
greatly benefit the American public. Any legislation that draws attention to
our nation's runaway judiciary is legislation worth debating, and in the
case of the Hostetler bill, supporting. To see how your U.S. Senator voted,

Family Tax Relief Should be a Permanent Fixture on Capitol Hill
House and Senate leaders next week plan on trying to extend a number of
President Bush's popular tax breaks, including the child tax credit and
marriage penalty relief, which by the end of the year would fully or
partially disappear unless Congress acts. These tax cuts returned taxpayers'
money to the rightful owners at a time when they needed it, but without
these extensions, you'll see large tax increases for working families. Some
Senators, such as Senators Daschle (D-SD), Chafee (R-RI) and Snowe (R-ME),
argue that they cannot support tax cuts that do not include offsets.
The truth is, these Senators have no problems spending our money, but they
do have a very hard time returning it to the people who actually earned it.
According to the latest National Taxpayers Union Foundation's "BillTally"
report, which studies the spending agendas of Members of Congress, Sen.
Daschle tried to spend over $152 BILLION of taxpayers money last Session
alone, and Senators Chafee and Snowe were also well into the billions. These
Senators, and others like them, need to realize that American families
earned these dollars, not congressional members in Washington. Families
deserve tax breaks - not duplicitous talk from their elected officials.
FRC Questions Decision to Give Pro-abortion Vietnam AIDS Funding
You might recall FRC taking the lead some months back on the issue of the
$15 billion AID's package to Africa. We took the position that for too long
our tax dollars have gone to organizations like Planned Parenthood that
promote condom and abortion policies with our money. Ultimately, working
with our friends in the administration and on Capitol Hill, we were able to
channel significant portions of the money to countries that abided by the
Mexico City Policy and that recognized teaching abstinence was the most
successful policy in bringing relief to AIDS ravaged countries.
Recently, in compliance with a provision attached to FY04 appropriations,
the administration announced that Vietnam would be added on as a receiver
country. This is outrageous given the fact that Vietnam has a two child,
forced abortion policy. We have registered our objections in the strongest
terms and sent a letter signed by many coalition organizations to the White
House and to the leadership in the House and Senate. At the very least we
expect the administration to ensure that our tax dollars in Vietnam are
channeled through private and faith-based organizations, not through the
government. Our request is in line with the original Emergency Plan for AIDS
relief prohibiting U.S. funding of pro-abortion policies and we are left
wondering at whose urging Vietnam was chosen to be added to the list?

I remember listening to them 40 years ago when their titties were all
twisted about inter-racial marriages. Same 'protect marriage' and 'activist
judges' rhetoric.

I can't believe these people! They obviously have never read
the Constitution. The House bill refered to goes against Amendment 10.
As for activist judges, what do they think we have a 3rd branch of
government for? The Constitution says clearly that the judiciary is
supposed to oversee the other 2 branches and make sure they don't pass
laws (or do anything else) that goes against the Constitution.

House and Senate leaders next week plan on trying to extend a number of
President Bush's popular tax breaks, including the child tax credit and
marriage penalty relief,

Oh, so I'm supposed to pay more in taxes because other people
want to have kids? If you can't afford the kids, don't have them!

Yes, God forbid we try not to spend more than we take in...

Sen. Daschle tried to spend over $152 BILLION of taxpayers money

On what? Public schools? Health care? Unemployment benefits
for people who lost their jobs under Bush's economic plan? Weapons and
armor for our troops?
Spending money isn't always a bad thing.
