July 20, 2004 Family Research Council Rant "Sinful Silence: . . ." |
Democratic Party Platform: More Left-Wing Propaganda
The Democratic Party has officially weighed in with a new party platform
that delivers a healthy dose of pro-abortion, pro-homosexual propaganda. The
party that so often preaches tolerance apparently has no tolerance for the
more than seventy percent of Americans who believe marriage ought to remain
the union of one man and one woman, and neither do they have any tolerance
for people who believe that abortion kills an innocent human life. Key
elements of the Democratic platform include endorsing radical anti-AIDS
initiatives and other programs that encourage promiscuity, calling for the
passage of "thought crimes" legislation, dropping the "Don't Ask/Don't Tell"
policy in favor of full inclusion for open homosexuals in the military, and
defeating the marriage protection amendment.
It appears that more and more the Democratic Party is running to the Left
while Americans are leaning to the Right. The question is whether the
Republican Party, which is the primary beneficiary of conservatives' votes,
will produce a platform and a convention speaker line-up that will counter
the pro-abortion, pro-homosexual policies favored by the Democrats. FRC will
have lobbyists at both conventions to remind our political leadership of the
values held by millions of American families, like yours.
D.C. on a Roll...
Arriving in D.C. not quite a year ago from Louisiana, I was impressed with
how the city has made a turn around under Mayor Anthony Williams (D) and the
GOP-controlled Congress. Crime had decreased and with the help of federal
tax dollars, economic development abounds. Those accomplishments could soon
be undermined if supporters of a gambling complex in the District have their
way. They've recently delivered signed petitions to put a pro-gambling
measure on this fall's ballot, paving the way for a huge casino to be built
in Northeast D.C. It did not surprise me when The Washington Times reported
a shadowy figure from Idaho was the financier of the proposal, which,
according to D.C. law is supposed to be initiated by a local resident. Those
shadowy individuals were a part of the gambling scene that exploded in the
1990's in Louisiana, which lead to some of the largest corruption
investigations in the history of the FBI. The net result was one governor
and several elected officials being put behind bars for their role in the
corruption.
Gambling not only corrupts government, but it feeds upon the impoverished
and invites tremendous social problems into communities. Even though both
political parties receive their fair share of gambling money, they should
stop this effort from going forward so the improvements to the nation's
Capitol City are not put at risk under the corrupting influences of the
characters that are always lurking in the shadows of legalized gambling.
Ken Connor's New Book: 'Sinful Silence'
Christians must be engaged in the public debate and former FRC President Ken
Connor's new book, "Sinful Silence: When Christians Neglect Their Civic
Duty" is an excellent read on the subject. By looking at God's Word and His
dealings with nations such as Judah, the book sets forth biblical principles
that remove any doubt as to God's heart on the issue of civil involvement.
It points out that just as God held the people of Judah accountable for
their leaders' sins because he gave them significant responsibility in
selecting their leaders, he holds us accountable as well. And, from
addressing the Bible's call for us to be "salt and light" in our world to
suggesting that our failure as God's people to address blatant violations of
God's civil standards may hinder our prayer and worship, this is a book well
worth reading. It would also make an excellent gift for your pastor.

This is good, too:

Political Campaign Activity
Under the Internal Revenue Code, all section 501(c)(3) organizations are
absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or
intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to)
any candidate for elective public office. Contributions to political
campaign funds or public statements of position (verbal or written) made on
behalf of the organization in favor of or in opposition to any candidate for
public office clearly violate the prohibition against political campaign
activity. Violation of this prohibition may result in denial or revocation
of tax-exempt status and the imposition of certain excise tax.
Certain activities or expenditures may not be prohibited depending on the
facts and circumstances. For example, certain voter education activities
(including the presentation of public forums and the publication of voter
education guides) conducted in a non-partisan manner do not constitute
prohibited political campaign activity.
In addition, other activities intended to encourage people to participate in
the electoral process, such as voter registration and get-out-the-vote
drives, would not constitute prohibited political campaign activity if
conducted in a non-partisan manner. On the other hand, voter education or
registration activities with evidence of bias that: (a) would favor one
candidate over another; (b) oppose a candidate in some manner; or (c) have
the effect of favoring a candidate or group of candidates, will constitute
prohibited participation or intervention.

Most assuredly. And for several weeks now, I've been
accumulating solid videotaped proof of MANY such violations by
televangeists in such venues as the Trinity broadcasting network,
"The 700 Club"/CBN, etc., which I very soon will be formally
presenting with to the IRS, along with a formal petition for each
instance to REVOKE their tax-exempt status. I will press these
charges as for as legally possible. And I invite all other egalitar-
ians to take such action on their own. The more the whistle gets
blown on these blatant violators, the more likely that these efforts
to **thwart** the RRR Cult's attempts to adversely influence the
electoral process will rapidly succeed.

Patrick (07-92684) seemed more than willing to take my complaint, and I
definitely don't live in DC. He said that he alone had gotten around half
a dozen complaints on this sort of thing in the past few months. He told
me he would give my complaint to an investigator, and that they would
contact me if they needed to know anything else.

Christians must be engaged in the public debate and former FRC President
Ken Connor's new book, "Sinful Silence: When Christians Neglect Their
Civic Duty" is an excellent read on the subject. By looking at God's
Word and His dealings with nations such as Judah, the book sets forth
biblical principles that remove any doubt as to God's heart on the issue
of civil involvement. It points out that just as God held the people of
Judah accountable for their leaders' sins because he gave them
significant responsibility in selecting their leaders, he holds us
accountable as well.
Interestingly enough, this is totally contrary to actual, original
fundamentalism. The "dispensation" the nation of Israel was under (per
fundie theology) is *not the same that the church is under.
Their attempt to apply the rules Israel was/is under to the church is flat
out *wrong in their own belief system.
And that silly old book no Christian reads anymore (called "the bible") it
is *impossible for human government to "please god." The NT is rather
clear that only the supernatural power of "god" will be able to "save"
anybody. Believing you can "save" the nation with human government is to
claim godlike status for yourself.
Also, according to the NT (which Christian fundamentalists never read),
"satan" is the "god of this world" and has corrupted *all* human
governments. The original fundamentalist theology held that you were
*never* going to improve things by use of human government. That things
were going to get steadily more corrupted and evil. That only *god could
stop that progression.
But, suddenly, Christian fundamentalists have assumed the mantle of god
and are going to vote the nation to paradise.
How blasphemous of them...

"Tock" <tock@sbcglobal.net> once again very helpfully provided
us with the lunacy of the "Family Research Counil" ---
...which would be called "The Anti-Personal-Liberties Council,"
if it were an HONEST organization. Let's evaluate this latest rant
from that collection of control freaks ---
Democratic Party Platform: More Left-Wing Propaganda
The FRC's Party-LINE:
More Radical-Right propagandistic & Lying TRIPE.
The Democratic Party has officially weighed in with a new party
platform that delivers a healthy dose of pro-abortion,...
Wrong. Pro-CHOICE.
...pro-homosexual ....
Wrong. Pro-Recognition that gays deserve full ACCESS to
the EQUAL rights to which they have always been entitled.
(Damn, but those RRR-cult loons are dumber than a sack of
hammers!)
...propaganda.
The only propaganda around here is all the FRC's. It's what
happens to control-freaks when NO FACTS support their ludicrous
and hateful stance.
The party that so often preaches tolerance apparently has no
tolerance for the more than seventy percent...
Nope. It's down to more like 39 or 40%. The Wisconsin Primary,
earlier this year, proved that very solidly in the ONLY sort of poll
that counts: votes at the ballot box.
of Americans who ...
...STUPIDLY...
...believe marriage ought to remain the union of one man and
one woman, and neither do they have any tolerance for people who...
...INANELY and ignorantly can't distinguiush between mere
entities of the reproductive process, and *people*, and therefore
moronically...
...believe that abortion kills an innocent human life.
Key elements of the Democratic platform include endorsing radical
anti-AIDS initiatives...
"Radical?" To seek a cure for a disease? That's no more radical
than it is to endorse new anti-cancer initiatives! (Dumer and dumber,
that FRC!)
...and other programs that encourage promiscuity, ....
Such AS, "FRC" liars?
...calling for the passage of "thought crimes" legislation,
MORE of the FRC's dishonesty, since the obvious reference is to
very justifiable hate-crimes legislation. And to convict someone under
that, solid evidence of hateful intent must be presented in court.
...dropping the "Don't Ask/Don't Tell" policy in favor of full inclusion
for open homosexuals in the military, ...
...which would be the only SENSIBLE thing to do. Discriminating
against people on the basis of their sexual orientation is as absurd
and vacuous as it used to be to discriminate against them based on
their skin color. In both cases, TRIVIALITY-based bigotry!
...and defeating the marriage protection amendment.
More correctly called "The Bigotry Amendment." Which, thankfully
DID bite the dust. Thanks to common sense and fairness prevailing on
the part of the majority of our U.S. Senators!
It appears that more and more the Democratic Party is running to
the Left while Americans are leaning to the Right.
Dream on. INTELLIGENT Americans want NO part of the idiotic
control-freakishness and bigotry of the radical right. The Democratic
Party is in tune with all SENSIBLE Americans, and simply is ahead of
the curve for the malcontented ones who ultimately WILL outgrow
those ignorant and immature inclinations.
The question is whether the Republican Party, which is the primary
beneficiary of conservatives' votes, will produce a platform and a
convention speaker line-up that will counter the [Pro-Choice], {Pro-
Support for full access to EQUAL rights for gays] policies favored by
the Democrats.
If they do, we can COUNT on that speech being ALL empty rhetoric
and NO FACTS, since no facts support the ludicrous stance of the RRR
cult. (And hopefully, the democrats will immediately POINT OUT those
shortcomings, very publicly.
FRC will have lobbyists at both conventions to [attempt to CON] our
political leadership [into thinking that ITS warped "values" parallel those]
held by millions of American families,...
<inane anti-gambling rant flushed>
Ken Connor's [Ludicrous] New Book: 'Sinful Silence'
Christians must be engaged in the public debate...
REAL Christians ARE. We **support** individual liberties, and
oppose all forms of hateful bigotry. We should never be confused
with the misguided and bigoted PSEUDO-Christians of the RRR Cult.
...and former FRC President Ken Connor's new book, "Sinful Silence:
When Christians Neglect Their Civic Duty" is an excellent read on the
subject. ...
...if a person happens to be deluded enough to believe that the
Bible ever either appointed or authorized a Gestapo to enforce its
precepts, actual or misperceived, against society in general. (It
didn't.)
By looking at God's Word and His dealings with nations such as
Judah, the book sets forth biblical principles that remove any doubt
as to God's heart on the issue of civil involvement. It points out that
just as God held the people of Judah accountable for their leaders'
sins because he gave them significant responsibility in selecting their
leaders, he holds us accountable as well.
THEN, perhaps. But that was during the SAME thousands-of-years-
in-the-past disposition that executed fortune-tellers, forbade eating
shrimp, and condemned the wearing of mixed fabrics.
Know what the Bible DOES teach, "FRC?" Check out the many
places where Jesus commanded his followers to show love and
compassion to their neighbors. The diametric OPPOSITE of the way
you seek to treat hundreds of millions of women and homosexuals.

if it were an HONEST organization. Let's evaluate this latest rant
from that collection of control freaks ---
Nice critique.
The Swiss managed to cram lots of gears and springs into a tiny box to make
watches, IBM managed to put lots of data on floppy and hard disks, but this
idiot at the Family Research Council has managed to put more crap on a
single webpage than any other person, living or dead.

Thanks! And thank YOU for posting those rants of theirs, so that
we in these groups so easily CAN publicly dissect them.

box to make watches, IBM managed to put lots of data on floppy

That's the nature of the RRR, of which the FRC is one of the
foremost organizations of that oligarchical cult. Since NO FACTS
support their ludicrous and bigoted stances, they have to depend on
"talented" writers to spew reams of meaningless rhetoric and jargon,
in an attempt to fool their lemmings into overlooking all of those
MISSING facts.
A good analogy -- A high school student who hasn't a CLUE as to
answer an essay question on an exam attempts to avoid flunking it
most egregiously by writing pages of pure bullcrap, hoping to SNOW
the teacher who grades it.
Of course, the teacher sees right through it, and DOES flunk the
poor student most egregiously. Just as INTELLIGENT Americans see
right through the clueless tripe that the RRR cult spews. The ONLY
people that can be **snowed** by all *that* bullcrap are their own
ignorant lemmings. Who, fortunately, comprise only around 2 million
of America's 280 million people.
It's up to the other 278 million more astute -- sensible and
fair-minded -- egalitarian Americans to keep right on FLUNKING
the igoted RRR cultists, **in public** -- very egregiously.
