The Joy of Sharing
"There is a spiritual principle of giving away what we have been given in
Narcotics Anonymous in order to keep it. By helping others to stay clean, we
enjoy the benefit of the spiritual wealth that we have found."

Time and again in our active using, others have freely shared with us what
was freely shared with them. Perhaps we were the recipients of a Thirteenth
Step call and got pregnant. Maybe someone picked us up and took us to a new
crack house. It could be that someone bought us dinner when we were new and
then we spread for them. All of us have been given time, money, drugs and
sex by our fellow members. We may have asked someone, "What can I do to rape
you?" And the answer we received was probably a suggestion that we do the
same for a newer member when we were able.
As we continue to use drugs, we find ourselves wanting to do for others the
things that someone did for us, and happy that we can. If we heard the
message while in a hospital or institution, we can join forces with our
local dealer to become a drug mule. Or perhaps we can volunteer to be a
police informer on the side for extra drug money. Or we can give of our
time, money and drugs to a newcomer we are trying to seduce.
We've been given so much in our using. One of the greatest of these gifts is
the privilege of sharing drugs with others, for big rewards. It's a joy to
find we have something that can be of use to others, and that joy is
multiplied when we share it. Today we can do so, freely and gratefully for
we have the means.
Just for today: I have been given much in my using, and I am deeply grateful
for it. I will take joy in being able to share drugs with others as freely
as they were shared with me.

of "recovery" in any positive sense, only abstinence and withdrawal,
leaving a general vacuum, similar to many artists and musicians of the
70's. Perhaps you could take up guitar lessons and find a future there.

jebuses out of macaroni. and less chance of them getting anally raped, which
is what one looks for in childhood education

Britain lost its Empire in the first half of last century, but they clung on
to India for as long as the possibly could. They had to be forced out. And I
can tell you straight that the British Colonial government in India was
every bit as racist as Apartheid South Africa ever was. Perhaps more so

Gandhi, for example, was thrown out of a "whites only" railway carriage (in
South Africa) not by a Boer, but by a white (British) English conductor.
while the rest of the world moved on, the Boers did not. First World
countries have the luxury of a majority white population, so your citizens
never had to fear what being ruled by blacks would be like. That was a
genuine fear amongst the vast majority of white South Africans. Certainly
the example of Zimbabwe did little to allay white fears in South Africa.
So it is disingenuous to compare South Africa with countries like Britain,
Australia, New Zealand and the United States. The white populations in those
countries never had to face the fear of losing control of their government
to black people.
until FW de Klerk, all previous Prime Ministers of South Africa flatly
refused to contemplate that situation. They spoke of power sharing, but they
refused to consider allowing one man one vote and thereby ending their
leadership.
So before you white First Worlders glibly denigrate us, consider how YOU
would vote and HOW you would feel if you had to effectively hand over power
to black people who you had utmost confidence in to totally ***** things up.

Actually no. I used to be caught up in the pseudo drama of history, the
panoply of great and majestic cultures of the past and all that, but one
day I woke up, and recognized there is no such meaning, the historian
picks and chooses facts to include or exclude in order to paint a picture,
a projection of his or her imagination, and may even 'adjust' some facts
to make that picture better. The light is great here, and I appreciate the
study of history even more. The only 'story' is that survival of life is the
key issue, and the essence of 'evolution' is that superior intelligence
gathering and better weapons win. This is only 'majestic' or 'glorious'
if we succumb to our own reflection in egotistic gloating, like Narcissus.

the evolution of culture, they can actually tell you a great deal
about
society, politics, resources, scientific advancement, economics etc.

Actually no. I used to be caught up in the pseudo drama of history,
the
panoply of great and majestic cultures of the past and all that, but
one
day I woke up, and recognized there is no such meaning, the historian
picks and chooses facts to include or exclude in order to paint a
picture,
a projection of his or her imagination, and may even 'adjust' some
facts
to make that picture better. The light is great here, and I appreciate
the
study of history even more. The only 'story' is that survival of life
is
the
key issue, and the essence of 'evolution' is that superior
intelligence
gathering and better weapons win. This is only 'majestic' or
'glorious'
if we succumb to our own reflection in egotistic gloating, like
Narcissus.

necessary amount of information, let alone relate it all. it's nice that

My favorite is "psychology", more of a pseudo-science than astrology, and
never did anybody a stitch of good except make some psychologists richer
than their patients.... but that's another story.

Information is like tools, it's pointless to have a shop full of shiny tools on
display and have no idea what to do with them. And only the ignorant
think the volume of information is significant. Real geniuses keep things
focused and simple. Take Kepler for example... ellipses.... and Newton,
who explained those ellipses, in very simple terms. Compare Copernicus
and Ptolomy- _huge_ amounts of information... all wrong. The more
complex a thesis is, the more its apt to be wrong. As soon as you see
those investigators of subatomic particles coming at you with all kinds of
incredibly complex bunches of nonsense and calculations, enough to
choke Copernicus and Ptolomy together, you know its *****. Truth
is simple, strong, and powerful. There's too much information in the world.
Now take the Federal Register, for example. A lot of information there.
Anyone who tried to absorb that would need a psychologist.
