Gee, Fred, what did the latest threat have to do with box cutters? Or
with the Patriot Act? Or with any of the extraordinary powers Shrub
has asked for? There were some people who had a vague idea of doing
something bad and they were caught with normal police work. The guys
"aiming" at JFK could not have, despite the fear mongering claim,
have blown up the entire pipeline: that is not how those things work.
*If* they ever had gotten some money and *if* they had ever gotten
some explosives and *if* they had gotten onto the property and *if*
they were not stopped, then they might have been able to make a big
explosion that would have hurt airport operations. Not a major threat
to life, not a major threat to the country. You have, yet again,
resorted to argumentum ad cartoonum because a written presentation of
the claim would have been laughable on the face of it.
If you care about real risk, real danger, how about:
Remnants of Famous Samarra Shiite Shrine Destroyed
"Early morning blasts Wednesday destroyed two minarets at the same
Shiite shrine in Samarra where an attack last year demolished the
mosque's gilded dome and plunged the country into a wave of deadly
sectarian violence."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/13/AR2007061300356.html
Yeah, that new counter-insurgency plan is working very well.

Good for you, Matt, you found an incident to whine about.

But the surge is working! And the Bush is hiding Saddam's WMD! The war
would pay for itself! The GOP will win the election in 2006! Valerie
Plame was not covert! There is not tortue at Abu Gharib*
*Actual pronouncements by Fred Stone

"Early morning blasts Wednesday destroyed two minarets at the same
Shiite shrine in Samarra where an attack last year demolished the
mosque's gilded dome and plunged the country into a wave of deadly
sectarian violence."

Yeah, that new counter-insurgency plan is working very well.
