Katrina and 'Prayer' |
I wonder just how many victims of Katrina decided not to evacuate
because of their heart-felt belief that 'God' or 'Allah' would protect
them? I saw the video images of a group of dead 'believers' found
in a flooded out chapel. I'll bet that the name of Jesus or God was
on their lips and in their minds right before they were killed. Prayer?
What did that do for those about do drown to death? What good
could it *possibly* have done. Stop the hurricane in its tracks? Hah!
(Are we to believe that, for all the dead killed in the hurricane, it was
their time' to die and that God was just, 'calling them home'? Is *that*
it? Is anyone mindless enough to take this notion seriously? Puhleeeze!)
What makes this all the more tragic is that there are countless people
among us that refuse to believe that their God is imaginary, and given
the same circumstances, would do exactly what their dead brethren
did - and not think twice about it. The Church has blood on its hands
for deluding the masses into believing the crap it espouses. I find their
teachings unconscionable. In light of what happened, they ought to at
least take a second look at their teaching about prayer. It obviously
has a few flaws in it.

<mode class='fundy'>God works in mysterious way. Some people were blessed and
called home to glory. Most were cursed and sent straight to Hell where they
belonged. Those who survived will be tested as Job was tested, so that their
faith in and love of God would be increased. Praise Jesus! Halleluya!</mode>

Mysterious? His actions aren't 'mysterious' - they're regarded as 'criminal'
by anyone
whose head isn't glued on backwards. To Glory? Or to eternal subservience to
a
deity with an ego the size of President Bush's *and* the state of Texas
combined.
Wait a minute. I feel something overcoming me right now.
Hoo, boy! I can just *feel* the 'faith and love' the dear departed are
exuding at the
moment. (Sound of tears plopping on the ground.) It almost makes me want to
go out
and git drowned for Jesus right about now. Thank you for your enlightinin'
words,
brother Gregory. But above all, Thank you Jeeeezuz! Praise the Lord.
glub, glub, glub, ah, glub, glub grey ... wolf, glub, glub ... bye now.

Dunno but I did read in the archives of some publication about a woman in
Slidell who said god was throwing a "tent of protection" (or cone of
silence, or what) over her.
Slidell has been almost totally absorbed into the lake now...

Another yelled, as two of them were trying to close a door against
Katrina, "Don't worry, God's got our back!"

The woman's 'protected' by the stilfling waters.

I think you'd lose that bet. I bet it was; "*****! We've got to get
out of here!" And there was no way out. "God is Good."
Prayer?

Millions do-as long as it happens to *someone else.* As I've said
before, these people are unable to realize that to all others *they*

Not at all. All suckers die and are replaced by others. The prophet$
