A new ten commandments display was unveiled Monday morning, after the
fiscal court voted unanimously to place it in the courthouse.
Garrard County Judge Executive John Wilson says this one is much
different from a display that had to be removed last year, after it
landed the county in court.
"The other display hung by previous administration and was a
collection of historical documents, one of which was the 10
commandments," he said. "This is a different one; it is educational.
It's to educate the public on the history of the 10 commandments."
Wilson says the new display chronicles the commandments from the
beginning to the current day court battles. He says it shows both
sides of the controversy.

Ugh, here we go again. These people don't learn.

"The other display hung by previous administration and was a

If they believe it is a historical document, I challenge them to produce
the original.

he said. "This is a different one; it is educational.

The only history involved with the ten commandments is that a lot of
people read about it in the bible, several fictional movies were made,
and some people actually obey them. What these idiots don't (or refuse
to) realize is that there is no *historical* ten commandments. No large
population of Jews living at any time in Egypt, no mass exodus in
Egyptian records, therefore no Moses, no burning bush, and no ten
commandments. The only history involved is that a bunch of historical
people believe the story.
Not to mention the fact that what they are doing is a direct violation
of the first amendment, as it represents a government endorsement of
religion.
Did you see the comments below the article? This one caught my eye.

I'm intrigued by that sentence. What does he mean "from the
beginning"?
Does it start with Moses coming down off Mt Sinai or the Egyptian
Book of the Dead?

Moses, of course! The real god wouldn't crib from pagan gods!

What is it with fundies? Even with churches on damn near every street
corner, apparently their faith is utterly meaningless to them unless
they can get big-government to bankroll it. Why do so-called
"conservatives" trust big-government to promote religion instead of
private organizations. They claim to oppose big-government yet they
bend over backwards to get big-government to do things by force that
their churches apparently are too incompetent do by example. There is
absolutely nothing "conservative" about that position. It smacks of
totalitarian communism.
I guess that's why they call them "Red" States.
