MARCH 11--A former Democratic congressional aide was arrested today on
charges that she worked as an Iraqi spy. Susan Lindauer, 41, has been
charged with conspiring to work with the Iraqi Intelligence Service
and engaging in prohibited financial transactions with Saddam
Hussein's government, according to the below indictment unsealed today
by federal prosecutors in New York. Lindauer, arrested this morning at
her Maryland home, allegedly met with Iraqi agents during several
visits to the country's U.N. mission, where she "accepted various
payments" in return "for services provided to the IIS in the course of
her ongoing intelligence relationship with them." Lindauer, who also
allegedly traveled to Iraq in early-2002 to meet with IIS agents, has
previously worked as a press spokesperson for several elected
officials, including former Senator Carol Moseley-Braun and
congressmen Ron Wyden and Peter DeFazio.

manages to keep springing back into the limelight every time a TV
camera gets in his vicinity.
That being said, Jesse didn't have the great year. Pretty much
everybody trashed him for criticizing the movie "Barber Shop", Jessie
Lee Peterson from BOND has been publicly ripping him all year long, &
Jackson had to call off a meeting with the terrorist group Hamas
because they murdered a several Americans right before they were
scheduled to speak with him. Fortunately, Jackson's power is on the
wane and hopefully he won't even make this list next year. Since
Jackson was such a joke this year, that should be reflected in his
defining quote...

to his complaints that the media is against him despite having the
International Documentary Association name "Bowling for Columbine" the
best documentary ever made, Moore never ceases to annoy.

12) Harry Belafonte: Harry Belafonte ripped into Colin Powell earlier
this year and for all intents and purposes called him a "house
n*gger". Listening to a washed up loser like Belafonte criticize
Powell was a joke. Powell is the son of an immigrant who received a
Purple Heart and the Bronze Star in Vietnam, became the chairman of
the Joint Chiefs of Staff, helped plan out the Gulf War, and became
the first black Secretary of State. On the other hand, Belafonte is
most famous for singing "Banana Boat (Day-O)" in 1956. In the game of
life, Belafonte couldn't carry Powell's jock strap. But as per usual
when Conservative blacks are attacked, it was up to the right to
defend Powell while the left and the Civil Rights Establishment either
ignored Belafonte's attacks or nodded along like bobblehead dolls. How
typical of the left to turn a blind eye to this sort of idiocy...

11) Bill Clinton: Foreign policy failure Bill Clinton has a lot of
nerve publicly giving George Bush advice about how to handle the war
on terrorism. The current Palestinian Intifada started on his watch,
North Korea revealed that they lied to Clinton and kept their nuclear
program going, the "Black Hawk Down" incident happened in Somalia
while Clinton was in charge, China stole a lot of military technology
from us, Clinton turned down an offer from Sudan to hand over Bin
Laden back in 96, and very little was done about
terrorism or Iraq during Clinton's eight years in office. Now that
Bush is trying to clean up all the messes Clinton left him, it seems
like we can't go a week without Bubba handing out foreign policy
advice to the Bush administration. Then there was Clinton's assertion
that the GOP "got a majority in the South" because of racism and
perhaps the most obvious lie I've ever heard a politician tell...

10) Tom Daschle: Even Bill Clinton didn't stick his finger up in the
air and go whichever way the polls seemed to be leaning as often as
Tom Daschle did this year. Plus, he always seemed to be "disappointed"
as a kid who got nothing but socks for Christmas. You knew Daschle was
"disappointed" because he talked about how "disappointed" he was
constantly, usually with something the Bush administration was doing.
Then there was his claim that Bush was "politicizing" the war (as if
Daschle wasn't) and his outburst on the Senate floor about Bush
correctly pointing out (although he was talking about the Homeland
Security Department, not the war) that the Democrats were, "not
interested in the security of the American people." Last but not
least, there was Daschle's laughable attempt to demonize talk radio by
claiming that he was getting death threats because Rush Limbaugh
called him an "obstructionist"...

9) Cynthia McKinney: Ah, there are so many reasons to detest Cynthia
McKinney. First and foremost among them was her suggestion that George
Bush stood by and deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen so "(p)ersons
close to this administration" could make money.
"We know there were numerous warnings of the events to come on
September 11th...What did this administration know and when did it
know it, about the events of September 11th? Who else knew, and why
did they not warn the innocent people of New York who were needlessly
murdered? What do they have
to hide? Persons close to this administration are poised to make huge
profits off America's new war."
Then when the stridently pro-Palestinian McKinney got into a tough
primary race, anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan was trotted out to campaign
for her. The day before McKinney went down in flames, her father was
asked why things weren't going well for his daughter's campaign. His
reply was, "Jews have bought everybody. Jews. J-E-W-S." McKinney will
not be missed.

went up on RWN when McKinney lost her congressional seat.
8) Ted Rall: The words, "bad natured punk" describe Ted Rall as well
as any. What else can you say about a guy who made fun of the widows
who had husbands murdered in the 9/11 attacks? Rall even took what
appeared to be a direct shot at Daniel Pearl's wife in the cartoon.
Then there was his insane column suggesting that the GOP killed Paul
Wellstone. Apparently this sort of crass lunacy pays off since Rall
has his cartoons carried by the New York Times and his columns carried
by Yahoo.

7) Bruce Ratner: On 9/11, three firefighters, Dan McWilliams, George
Johnson and William Eisengrein, raised an American flag in the
wreckage of the WTC. It was a memorable, touching act that that
resonated with the American public. That's why many people thought
that a statue depicting that moment was an appropriate first memorial
to the 343 fire fighters and emergency medical personnel who died at
the WTC site.
Then the donor for the statue, Bruce Ratner, ruined everything by
insisting that the memorial had to feature one white, one black and
one Hispanic instead of the three men who actually raised the flag.
Because of his insane political correctness, Ratner managed to turn
what should have been a heart-warming memorial into an ugly,
race-related controversy. Eventually, because of the outcry from the
public, that memorial to political correctness, not the brave people
who died, was abandoned.

6) David 'Bin' Bonior (D - Iraq) and 'Baghdad' Jim McDermott (D -
Iraq): What can you really say about two Democratic Congressmen
running around in Iraq telling the world that Saddam Hussein can be
trusted and George Bush can't? It was unconscionable for Bonior and
McDermott to have been in effect
doing free public relations work for a murderous tyrant like Saddam
Hussein even though they knew that our military forces were going to
be putting their lives on the line fighting against Saddam in the
upcoming months.

5) Al Gore: In all of my life, I've never heard someone incessantly
whine as much as Gore did about the 2000 elections. Gore talked about
how unfair it was that he lost in interviews, while he was campaigning
for Democratic candidates in 2002, and it even came up over and over
again in the episode of Saturday Night Live he did. It was so bad that
I wished someone, Bill Clinton, Tipper, Janet Reno, anyone, would grab
Gore by the lapels, shake him and scream, "You lost the election! Get
over it already you big baby!"
Couple Gore's incessant complaining with his flip-flops on national
health care and the invasion of Iraq, along with his shrill carping
about the Bush administration and you have one annoying lefty. Gore
even went so far as to call the Taliban a "fifth-rate military power"
in one of his rants which inspired Charles Krauthammer to respond as
follows...

4) The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals: This group of frothing at the
mouth lefties have a history of making dumb rulings. In fact, they're
the most overturned appeals court in the country. Well, they really
stepped into a buzzsaw when they declared that the Pledge of
Allegiance was unconstitutional because it contained the phrase "under
God." In response to their ruling, it seemed as if almost the entire
country went nuts. The
outcry was so loud that the Senate voted 98-0 "expressing support for
the Pledge of Allegiance." The furor grew so quickly that Circuit
Judge Alfred T. Goodwin stayed the ruling the next day.

3) The Wellstone Memorial: Not in recent memory has there been a
spectacle like the Wellstone Memorial. At the nationally televised
service, Trent Lott, Rod Grams, and Jesse Ventura were booed, upbeat
music was played, political speeches were given, and there were even
beach balls being bandied about by the crowd.
The fallout from the service was enormous. Jesse Ventura was so
offended that he appointed an Independent to fill out the rest of
Wellstone's term instead of a Democrat as he'd planned to do earlier.
Furthermore, so many Minnesotans were offended by the Memorial that it
probably cost the Democrats Wellstone's seat in the Senate. My guess
is that Terry Mcauliffe was largely responsible for that fiasco, but
absolutely no one was willing to accept credit for planning the
service.

2) Barbra Streisand: If the top twenty list would have been based on
nothing more than reader opinion, Babs would have won in a landslide.
Streisand made the biggest splash with her obnoxious memo to
"Congressman ***** 'Gebhardt'. In that classic memo, she misspelled
several things including Gephardt's name & speculated that the
"logging industry" (among others) was pushing Bush to go to war with
Iraq.
Streisand was also was busted less than a month later making another

1) Jimmy Carter: When Jimmy Carter was the POTUS, he destroyed the
economy, crippled the military, gave away the Panama Canal, pandered
to Yasser Arafat, and stood helplessly by while Iran was taken over by
pro-terrorist Islamic radicals who immediately took American hostages.
Yet, Carter has spent a large part of this year very publicly giving
George Bush foreign policy advice. Uh -- no thanks.
Earlier this year, Carter went to Cuba to pal around with Fidel Castro
while declaring that the Bush administration was lying about Cuba
having biological weapons. Carter also blamed Israel for creating
"intense feelings of animosity in the world" because of the "inability
of Israel to live in peace with its neighbors." Jimmy has yet to
comment on whether the Jews in Germany were responsible for the
Holocaust because of their "inability to live in peace with (their)
neighbors."
Notably, Carter also received a Nobel Peace Prize. Part of the reason
why he received it, the biggest part I'm guessing, was simply to spite
the Bush administration...

Two decades ago, the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI)
was a highly respected financial titan. In 1987, when its subsidiary
helped finance a deal involving Texas oilman George W. Bush, the bank
appeared to be a reputable institution, with attractive branch offices,
a traveler's check business, and a solid reputation for financing
international trade. It had high-powered allies in Washington and
boasted relationships with respected figures around the world. All that
changed in early 1988, when John Kerry, then a young senator from
Massachusetts, decided to probe the finances of Latin American drug
cartels. Over the next three years, Kerry fought against intense
opposition from vested interests at home and abroad, from senior
members of his own party; and from the Reagan and Bush administrations,
none of whom were eager to see him succeed.
By the end, Kerry had helped dismantle a massive criminal enterprise
and exposed the infrastructure of BCCI and its affiliated institutions,
a web that law enforcement officials today acknowledge would become a
model for international terrorist financing. As Kerry's investigation
revealed in the late 1980s and early 1990s, BCCI was interested in more
than just enriching its clients--it had a fundamentally anti-Western
mission. Among the stated goals of its Pakistani founder were to "fight
the evil influence of the West," and finance Muslim terrorist
organizations. In retrospect, Kerry's investigation had uncovered an
institution at the fulcrum of America's first great post-Cold War
security challenge.
More than a decade later, Kerry is his party's nominee for president,
and terrorist financing is anything but a back-burner issue. The Bush
campaign has settled on a new strategy for attacking Kerry: Portray him
as a do-nothing senator who's weak on fighting terrorism. "After 19
years in the Senate, he's had thousands of votes, but few signature
achievements," President Bush charged recently at a campaign rally in
Pittsburgh; spin that's been echoed by Bush's surrogates, conservative
pundits, and mainstream reporters alike, and by a steady barrage of
campaign ads suggesting that the one thing Kerry did do in Congress was
prove he knew nothing about terrorism. Ridiculing the senator for not
mentioning al Qaeda in his 1997 book on terrorism, one ad asks: "How
can John Kerry win a war [on terror] if he doesn't know the enemy?"
If that line of attack has been effective, it's partly because Kerry
does not have a record like the chamber's dealmakers such as Sens. Joe
Lieberman (D-Conn.) or Orrin Hatch (R-Utah). Though Kerry has been a
key backer of bills on housing reform, immigration, and the
environment, there are indeed few pieces of landmark legislation that
owe their passage to Kerry.
But legislation is only one facet of a senator's record. As the BCCI
investigation shows, Kerry developed a very different record of
accomplishment--one often as vital, if not more so, than passage of
bills. Kerry's probe didn't create any popular new governmental
programs, reform the tax code, or eliminate bureaucratic waste and
fraud. Instead, he shrewdly used the Senate's oversight powers to
address the threat of terrorism well before it was in vogue, and
dismantled a key terrorist weapon. In the process, observers saw a
senator with tremendous fortitude, and a willingness to put the public
good ahead of his own career. Those qualities might be hard to
communicate to voters via one-line sound bites, but they would surely
aid Kerry as president in his attempts to battle the threat of
terrorism.
From drug lords to lobbyists
Despite having helmed the initial probe which led to the Iran-Contra
investigation, Kerry was left off the elite Iran-Contra committee in
1987. As a consolation prize, the Democratic leadership in Congress
made Kerry the chairman of the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Narcotics,
and International Operations and told him to dig into the Contra-drug
connection. Kerry turned to BCCI early in the second year of the probe
when his investigators learned that Panamanian strongman Manuel Noriega
was laundering drug profits through the bank on behalf of the Medellin
cartel.
By March 1988, Kerry's subcommittee had obtained permission from the
Foreign Relations Committee to seek subpoenas for both BCCI and
individuals at the bank involved in handling Noriega's assets, as well
as those handling the accounts of others in Panama and Colombia. Very
quickly, though, Kerry faced a roadblock. Citing concerns that the
senator's requests would interfere with an ongoing sting operation in
Tampa, the Justice Department delayed the subpoenas until 1988, at
which point the subcommittee's mandate was running out.
BCCI, meanwhile, had its own connections. Prominent figures with ties
to the bank included former president Jimmy Carter's budget director,
Bert Lance, and a bevy of powerful Washington lobbyists with close ties
to President George H.W. Bush, a web of influence that may have helped
the bank evade previous investigations. In 1985 and 1986, for instance,
the Reagan administration launched no investigation even after the CIA
had sent reports to the Treasury, Commerce, and State Departments
bluntly describing the bank's role in drug-money laundering and other
illegal activities.
In the spring of 1989, Kerry hit another obstacle. Foreign Relations
Committee chairman Claiborne Pell (D-R.I.), under pressure from both
parties, formally asked Kerry to end his probe. Worried the information
he had collected would languish, Kerry quickly dispatched investigator
Jack Blum to present the information his committee had found about
BCCI's money-laundering operations to the Justice Department. But
according to Blum, the Justice Department failed to follow up.
The young senator from Massachusetts, thus, faced a difficult choice.
Kerry could play ball with the establishment and back away from BCCI,
or he could stay focused on the public interest and gamble his
political reputation by pushing forward.
BCCI and the bluebloods
Kerry opted in 1989 to take the same information that had been coldly
received at the Justice Department and bring it to New York District
Attorney Robert Morgenthau, who agreed to begin a criminal
investigation of BCCI, based on Kerry's leads. Kerry also continued to
keep up the public pressure. In 1990, when the Bush administration gave
the bank a minor slap on the wrist for its money laundering practices,
Kerry went on national television to slam the decision. "We send drug
people to jail for the rest of their life," he said, "and these guys
who are bankers in the corporate world seem to just walk away, and it's
business as usualŠWhen banks engage knowingly in the laundering of
money, they should be shut down. It's that simple, it really is."
He would soon have a chance to turn his declarations into action. In
early 1991, the Justice Department concluded its Tampa probe with a
plea deal allowing BCCI officials to stay out of court. At the same
time, news reports indicated that Washington elder statesman Clark
Clifford might be indicted for defrauding bank regulators and helping
BCCI maintain a shell in the United States.
Kerry pounced, demanding (and winning) authorization from the Foreign
Relations Committee to open a broad investigation into the bank in May
1991. Almost immediately, the senator faced a new round of pressure to
relent. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Democratic doyenne Pamela
Harriman personally called Kerry to object, as did his fellow senators.
"What are you doing to my friend Clark Clifford?," staffers recalled
them asking, according to The Washington Post. BCCI itself hired an
army of lawyers, PR specialists, and lobbyists, including former
members of Congress, to thwart the investigation.
But Kerry refused to back off, and his hearings began to expose the
ways in which international terrorism was financed. As Kerry's
subcommittee discovered, BCCI catered to many of the most notorious
tyrants and thugs of the late 20th century, including Iraqi dictator
Saddam Hussein, the heads of the Medellin cocaine cartel, and Abu
Nidal, the notorious Palestinian terrorist. According to the CIA, it
also did business with those who went on to lead al Qaeda.
And BCCI went beyond merely offering financial assistance to dictators
and terrorists: According to Time, the operation itself was an
elaborate fraud, replete with a "global intelligence operation and a
Mafia-like enforcement squad."
By July 1991, Kerry's work paid off. That month, British and U.S.
regulators finally responded to the evidence provided by Kerry,
Morgenthau, and a concurrent investigation by the Federal Reserve. BCCI
was shut down in seven countries, restricted in dozens more, and served
indictments for grand larceny, bribery, and money laundering. The
actions effectively put it out of business what Morgenthau called, "one
of the biggest criminal enterprises in world history."
Bin Laden's bankers
Kerry's record in the BCCI affair, of course, contrasts sharply with
Bush's. The current president's career as an oilman was always marked
by the kind of insider cronyism that Kerry resisted. Even more
startling, as a director of Texas-based Harken Energy, Bush himself did
business with BCCI-connected institutions almost at the same time Kerry
was fighting the bank. As The Wall Street Journal reported in 1991,
there was a "mosaic of BCCI connections surrounding [Harken] since
George W. Bush came on board." In 1987, Bush secured a critical $25
million-loan from a bank the Kerry Commission would later reveal to be
a BCCI joint venture. Certainly, Bush did not suspect BCCI had such
questionable connections at the time. But still, the president's
history suggests his attacks on Kerry's national-security credentials
come from a position of little authority.
As the presidential campaign enters its final stretch, Kerry's BCCI
experience is important for two reasons. First, it reveals Kerry's
foresight in fighting terrorism that is critical for any president in
this age of asymmetrical threats. As The Washington Post noted, "years
before money laundering became a centerpiece of antiterrorist
efforts...Kerry crusaded for controls on global money laundering in the
name of national security."
Make no mistake about it, BCCI would have been a player. A decade
after Kerry helped shut the bank down, the CIA discovered Osama bin
Laden was among those with accounts at the bank. A French intelligence
report obtained by The Washington Post in 2002 identified dozens of
companies and individuals who were involved with BCCI and were found to
be dealing with bin Laden after the bank collapsed, and that the
financial network operated by bin Laden today "is similar to the
network put in place in the 1980s by BCCI." As one senior U.S.
investigator said in 2002, "BCCI was the mother and father of terrorist
financing operations."
Second, the BCCI affair showed Kerry to be a politician driven by a
sense of mission, rather than expediency--even when it meant ruffling
feathers. Perhaps Sen. Hank Brown, the ranking Republican on Kerry's
subcommittee, put it best. "John Kerry was willing to spearhead this
difficult investigation," Brown said. "Because many important members
of his own party were involved in this scandal, it was a distasteful
subject for other committee and subcommittee chairmen to investigate.
They did not. John Kerry did."

You may have heard about this story involving a woman arrested
yesterday for allegedly spying for Iraq, both before and after the
overthrow of Saddam Hussein. That's Susan Lindauer, and she has quite
a history. She has worked for four members of Congress, Fortune, U.S.
News and World Report, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and the Iraqi
intelligence service. That's quite a resume. That's how it's being
reported by the media, but let's look a little bit closer, shall we?
It turns out the four members of Congress that she worked for were all
Democrats. She worked for some of them for a short time, and one says
she doesn't remember her. Fine. But it's interesting how the media is
not really reporting that she only worked for Democrats. The AP story
initially reported that they were only "members of Congress." The
party affiliation of those members wasn't mentioned. There is, though,
one newspaper out there will name names, and that is The Atlanta
Journal-Constitution. In today's AJC you'll see a headline which reads
"Accused Spy is Cousin of Bush Staffer." Here we have someone who has
worked for four congressional Democrats .. and ONLY congressional
Democrats ... and our local leftist rag
identifies her as the cousin of a Bush staffer. Anyone who doesn't
believe the media is biased needs their head examined.
Can you imagine if she had only worked for Republicans? The media
would be spinning on its eyebrows and demanding accountability,
wondering what it all meant, and writing endless columns about spies
working in the Republican party. Interesting how the news gets
reported these days, isn't it?
Oh and by the way...when are we going to start executing people for
treason?
