KGO's Bernie Ward |
KGO radio has a talk show host named Bernie Ward, who has a Sunday
morning program called "God Talk". If you like Xian bigotry
you can hear this program at 810 AM throughout the Western US,
as far east as Texas. KGO is based in San Francisco.
I am very dubious about this show. Today three people called in to argue
the atheist viewpoint, but all three did it very poorly, and Bernie
cornered each of them on one point and pretty much beat them up,
presumably for the delivilish delight of rightwing Xians.
But were they real atheists? I doubt it.
The issue was why people love. Each tried to argue that love exists
only to ensure procreation, so Bernie easily came up with numerous counter-
arguments, including:
1. people have kids that they don't love
2. people who don't love each other have sex
3. people love one another without ever having sex
4. people who are too young or old to have sex can still love
etc
I have the feeling that some Xian group must be organizing
bogus callers, because none of the three callers seemed to be
aware of the obvious fact that humans evolved to cooperate
with one another and to rely on one another for material and
emotional comfort. Hence love.
Either that or they were just very weak debaters who
let Bernie bully them into a corner...
