PRE-9/11 HIJACK DRILLS REVEALED

April 19, 2004 -- The military conducted exercises simulating what
would happen if hijacked airliners crashed into targets two years
before Sept. 11, 2001, it was reported today.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command was even going to use the
Pentagon as one of the "targets" - but decided that was too
unrealistic, USA Today said. "Numerous types of civilian and military
aircraft were used as mock hijacked aircraft," NORAD said in a
statement.
It added the exercise was done to test various procedures - including
the ones for detecting, identifying and intercepting planes.
President Bush has maintained that no one in government envisioned the
possibility of terrorists flying airplanes into buildings.
