Do you think when America kills Osama bin Laden the L.A. Times is
going to run a screaming headline: "Assassination by Americans Sparks
Protests, Outrage"? Yet that was the headline in today's LA Times
regarding the execution of the monster Sheik Yassitn, along with
"Leaders Denounce the Killing." So much for world leaders.
The lead story in the Wall Street Journal, which referred to the mass
murderer Sheik Yasin as a "militant" had this miraculous passage: "Many
analysts say Israel's actions, which it defends as a necessary response
to terroism, run counter to a longtime guiding principle in the Middle
East conflict: that Israelis and Palestinians would ultimately settle
their differences through negotiations. Israel's new stance indicates
that it isn't willing to rely on diplomacy to deal with Hamas or to
ensure its security after its planned withdrawal from the Gaza strip."
Do you think the WSJ is ignorant of the fact that the Hamas charter and
mission call for the destruction of Israel and the creation of an
Islamic Palestinian state "from the Jordan to the sea" in its place,
and that the creed of Yassin and his assassins is that Jews are apes
and monkeys and should be slaughtered?
Israel's Operation Against Hamas Leader, Ahmed Yassin
Sheikh Ahmed Yassin - founder and leader of the Hamas terrorist group
responsible for the murder of 377 Israelis - was killed at daybreak
today in an Israel Air Force helicopter strike in Gaza City.
Ahmed Yassin
1. This morning, Israel targeted Ahmed Yassin, one of the most
prominent practitioners of international terrorism. The operation was
directed against the founder and leader of Hamas, a principal faction
of global terrorism.
2. Various news sources refer to Yassin as a "moderate spiritual
leader." This is no less ridiculous than describing Osama Bin Laden as
an "Islamic preacher." Underneath his supposed clerical garb, Ahmed
Yassin was an arch-terrorist, a true pioneer in the ruthless murder of
innocent civilians.
3. Yassin used his spiritual influence to indoctrinate his followers
with a hatred of human life and the zeal to commit dozens of deadly
attacks. He distorted lofty religious principles in order to recruit
Palestinians,
including women and children, to embark upon so-called "Holy Jihad"
missions, killing themselves in order to murder hundreds of Israeli
civilians.
4. Yassin inspired and personally approved of dozens of ruthless
attacks against innocent Israeli citizens. Among them -
a.. Double suicide bombing in Ashdod: the March 14, 2004 double suicide
bombing at the Ashdod port, in which 10 people were murdered and 16
were wounded.
b.. Attack on school children: the June 18, 2002, suicide bombing of a
commuter bus in Jerusalem in which 19 people were killed and 74
injured. The bus, which was completely destroyed, was carrying many
students on their way to school.
c.. Passover Massacre: the March 27, 2002, suicide bombing of the
dining room of the Park Hotel in the coastal city of Netanya. 30 people
were killed and 140 injured, in the midst of their Passover holiday
"Seder" dinner.
d.. Dolphinarium Attack: the June 1, 2001, suicide bombing of a
discotheque in Tel Aviv. 21 young people were killed and 120 wounded
when a Hamas bomber blew himself up while standing in a large group of
teenagers waiting to enter the disco.
Hamas Terrorism
1. All terrorism committed in the name of religious extremism is the
same, no matter where it takes place - whether it's called "al-Qaida,"
"Hamas," or by any other name.
2. Hamas has developed extensive ties with other terrorist groups. Due
to the support it receives from Iran and Syria, Hamas is able to
maintain a complex organizational, financial and operational
infrastructure, deployed throughout the world. This is why the
international community must take steps to fight terrorism.
3 . Since the beginning of the current wave of Palestinian violence in
September 2000, Hamas has perpetrated:
a.. 425 terrorist attacks, killing 377 Israelis and wounding 2,076
civilians and soldiers
b.. Included in these terrorists attacks were 52 suicide attacks,
killing 288 Israelis and wounding 1,646 civilians and soldiers
The Fight Against Terrorism
1. The operation against Yassin was part of the ongoing Israeli effort
to confront terrorism and its sources. The brutal Hamas terrorist
campaign is aimed at killing as many Israelis as possible, in the
pursuit of the
ultimate Hamas goal of bringing about Israel's destruction.
2. Whoever is involved in the planning, orchestration, execution or
leadership of terrorism must understand that Israel will not sit idly
by and wait for the next suicide bomber to appear on the streets of
Jerusalem or
Tel Aviv.
3. The Government of Israel - like any other government - bears a
fundamental responsibility to protect the lives of its citizens.
4. Terrorism is not only an Israeli problem. It is a global problem,
and it affects us all - from New York to Madrid to Tel Aviv. Terrorism
must be fought by the combined efforts of the entire international
community.
