Object: Late night thoughts of a relieved non-believer
Hi gang
I've just spent a tense couple of hours waiting to hear from my dad
who's been holidaying in Bali. I got an email from him a few minutes ago
confirming that he's OK, and was nowhere near the blasts, so that's a
relief. For me and my family anyway.
My thoughts go out to those who were not so lucky. How would I be
feeling right now if my dad had been among the victims? Like burning
down a mosque, probably.
For some reason my train of thought turned to this newsgroup (prompted
perhaps, by the idea of screaming abuse at religious extremists?), and
it occured to me that I haven't been here for years. In the past, my ISP
has had such a crap usenet feed that I couldn't participate, but that
seems to be fixed now - judging by the thousands of posts that came down
when I logged on.
So anyway, just thought I'd stick my nose in and say Hi.

Welcome back, Jon, and I'm glad your dad is okay. That
kind of thing is definitely frightening.

Hi Mickey.
Is that a candle in the window for me, or are you just warming up your
flamethrower for Boaty? (I can't believe he's still here!)

I'm not sure that he actually knows quite where he is, to tell the
truth.

Welcome back #277. Glad your father was unharmed.
We have a few extremists here to scream at but most
of them are so stupid and lame its hardly satisfying.

Hi Jon, Glad to see your father is OK. BTW I used to be with Senet and
I agree that their usenet feed sucked. I left them partly for that
reason.

The bastards put ball bearings in their bombs this time to maximise the
number of casualties. This is what comes of having The One True Faith.

Being swallowed up by iiNet seems to have improved their news feed, if
nothing else.
