Law will bar undocumented aliens from receiving Virginia benefits




RICHMOND, Va. -- A new Virginia law bars undocumented immigrants from
receiving state-funded benefits, the latest legislative effort to
harness
the state's growing illegal immigrant population.

The law, effective Jan. 1, restricts anyone unable to furnish a Social
Security number from tapping Medicaid, temporary assistance for needy
families and a handful of other state and local programs.

Proponents who debated the legislation in the General Assembly said
the
restrictions could save the commonwealth millions.

While this is clearly off-topic I must admit I totally agree with you
on this. The law simply does not go far enough.

There should be a legal requirement with no option to bring all
illegals to the attention of the INS whenever and however they are
identified. By no option I mean failure to do so under any
circumstances and for any reason at all would be a statutory crime.

They should of course be promptly deported upon identification, again
with no option. I also support the law that blocks citizenship for
any children born to illegals.

That graphic description would not apply to a properly passed law that
is found by the proper courts to be within the Constitution.

The only Constitutional issue is the citizenship point, and such laws
have been proposed.

Not enforcing an existing law is contrary to the reason for even
having laws.

Why am I not surprised that among the plethora of things you're ignorant
of is the fact that laws deemed to be unconstitutional have no standing in
