Leading US Catholic is forced out by Vatican
A leading Roman Catholic commentator has resigned as editor of an
influential Jesuit magazine in the United States amid reports the
Vatican doctrinal department formerly run by Pope Benedict had demanded
his removal for being "off-message" on condoms.
Father Thomas Reese, aged 60, announced his unexpected departure from
America magazine on Friday. The National Catholic Reporter, the US
weekly that broke the story later on Friday, said the Vatican had
objected to articles in the magazine discussing condom use to prevent
Aids, and on homosexual priests and secretive church disciplinary
measures.

I'm sorry, but it still needs to be explained to me why those who are
not Catholic (or even are) would have any caring or vested interest in
the Catholic Church's choice of ecclesiastical staff in a Catholic
magazine aimed at practicing Catholic subscribers.
What is wrong with maintaining what is the equivalent of what would be
an issue of editorial policy for a secular publication?

A lot of things like Truth can change from age to age and from person to

At one time, it was moral to buy and sell black people in the US.

Makes perfect sense. It's a well-recognized way of indicating "two ways

Naw, that is wrong. It is a well known fact that the USA Catholic Church is
into that young boy thing "Let me fill you up, while you pray the Our
Father." That does not go over too well in the Latin Catholic Church
(Italy, Spain, Latin America); so they are cleaning house. If your an
American..........you have got to go. "Take your shitty stuff (no pun
intended) back to Boston, Houston, White House, New Orleans but keep it out
of the Church."

He's saying that the two conditions are equal. The RCC wants to get rid of
people that think {is equal to} getting rid of people that push ideas
contrary to God. You say to-may-to, I say to-mah-to....

Imagine that... A Pope saying that the way he prays it the most perfect
form of prayer... Not terribly surprising, is it?

Well, if he meant that, why didn't he say that?
Now why would the RCC want to keep people that disagree with God.
That's like getting a tennis pro insisting on writing an article on tennis in a
golf magazine.

For the same reason they get rid of people who can think for themselves I
suppose.

No, it would be more like getting rid of someone for publishing an article
about tennis, in a tennis magazine, but the article doesn't follow tennis
religious dogma.

*** Disagree with God or disagree with those who claim to speak for
