Why should an American dictatorship be any different than a European

I just wonder how long it will take our descendants to convince
themselves that human allegience to "Gawd(TM)" played absolutely no
role in Shrub's attrocities as they've done with other tyrranical
regimes from ages past, in spite of clear public indication that it
had _everything_ to do with it.

As long as it takes them to claim that, since he waged unprovoked war
on a defenseless sovereign nation, he wasn't "really" a Christian.

No, Shrub's a pretty big "cult of personality" item at present, too.
You don't put up interstate billboards with "W" on them (and nothing
else) under normal circumstances. That's definite cult-of-personality
behavior.

I think it's a good idea. In fact, I think every road, highway and street
sign in Texas ought to wholeheartedly reflect the influence of George W Bush
instead of just mentioning him. The signs should behave just like Bush does.
"Dallas 10 miles" means Dallas is about 75 miles away. Or maybe it's not
there at all and you're ten miles outside of Brownsville, headed towards
Mexico. Take out all the "Rough road ahead" signs and replace them with ones
that say "Smooth sailing ahead." Change all the signs until nothing is what
it looks like. They should have adjustable speed limits based on income. How
about books of pre-paid tickets (We'll call 'em vouchers) for future running
of red lights and stop signs? They'll cost a lot but the rich can afford
them. No more of those curving arrows meaning you need to slow down for a
sharp bend in the road ahead, either. Those are for pussies. Call it The
George W Bush Mammorial Highway System.

That's only a response to the Bush-bashing.

That's only a response to the Bush-bashing.

If so, it's a poor one. It does absolutely nothing to address
Bush-bashing, other than perhaps to invite more of it. It's clear and
unambiguous idolatry, which is cult behavior par excellence. Wish I
could say I'm surprised at how many fundamentalist Christians are
engaging in and enthusiastically supporting such idolatry, as idolatry
is supposed to be something they're against. But honestly, it's no
surprise. Not in the least. Hypocrisy has long been a fundamentalist
Christian virtue.
