Liberal Family Values, Or Lack Thereof! |
Liberal Family Values, Or Lack Thereof!
Helena Bonham Carter is a movie star! Wow! Imagine that. A star!
She gave birth to the child of director Tim Burton, her next door
neighbor. And what did she have to say about this Hollywood moment?
"I find it romantic bearing his illegitimate child and living next
door. I don't know if we'll marry."
Someone please tell me, why the hell do we idolize these people like
we do?
--
Left-wing Liberals are EVERYTHING they accuse the right of being. They
are mean, vicious, hateful, cold-hearted, intolerant, bigoted and
racist.

I don't idolise anybody. Mind you, I try not to judge anybody either.
What they want to get up to is their business.
Furthermore, how do you know that she said this. Were you there when
she did, or is it some report in a newspaper, or more likely gossip
rag.
Left-wing Liberals are EVERYTHING they accuse the right of being. They

Hmm, interesting byeline. I consider myself to be liberal, not sure
about the left wing (although according to right wing US politics I'm
probably only slightly right of communist ideals). However, I don't
know where you get the idea that I am mean, it's not like I don't care
about animals, the environment, the health and welfare of children and
the plight of my fellow man. Phew, and certainly to a larger degree
than Margaret Thatcher or Ronnie Raygun ever did.
Vicious and hateful, cold-hearted, intolerant and bigoted ? Treat
others as you would be treated is my personal diktat on life so I
figure if I want people to be vicious, hateful etc. etc. towards me
then I need to be the same towards them. It don't make for a pleasant
life, so I don't. Unless they push it, of course, in which case I will
be completely cold hearted. Nothing could ever cause me to be visious
though. I'd feel pity for somebody, but never any of the others.
Bigotry is something that I learned when I was growing up, and
rejected after witnessing the damage that it does to another human
being. Once again, I figure if I don't want anybody to be bigotted
towards me I cannot afford to show them that kind of irrational
dislike.
Strikes me that your byeline is everything you accuse everybody else
of really.

Wow, this is only about the 10th time this has been posted in the
last month or two.
First of all, I have no idea what Carter and Burton's politics are like.
Maybe they're liberal, maybe they're not.
Second, since I have no idea where the above material came from,
I have no idea if the quote is accurate or note.
Third, most liberals know better than to idolize movie stars and
directors. Certainly I don't make any of my life choices based
on what celebrities do, regardless of what I think of their
professional work. I like Mel Gibson's acting immensely,
and have enjoyed some of the movies he's directed, but I
don't chain smoke, have never cheated on my wife or publicly
insinuated she was going to Hell for not belonging to the
right church, nor assaulted anyone, nor made threats on a critic's dog.
You might want to look at Paul Newman's life and work to
see what a real Hollywood liberal does for the world.
Best, Marc
