You mean: A desire to force change ON society. Perhaps? Either way
that is a much more accurate description of conservatives than liberals.

The problem with common sense is that sense isn't very common. :-)
This has been around forever. It annoyed philosopher Immanuel Kant
so much he wrote a long essay titled something like, "Against the saying
that 'That may be well in theory, but doesn't work in practice'."
