Powell Shuts-up Rabid Liberal Congressman
This was just awesome!
Secretary of State Colin Powell was appearing before a House committee
dealing with intelligence matters. Democrat Sherrod Brown of Ohio was
eagerly awaiting his turn. When that turn came Brown put on a little
show that must have been embarrassing for him and for everyone in his
13th District in Ohio.
In short, Brown wanted to know how Powell could rely on information
from George Bush when Bush "may have been AWOL" from the National
Guard. Powell responded: "I won't dignify your comments about the
president, because you don't know what you're talking about."
Not having had enough, the congressman said "I'm sorry. I don't know
what you mean, Mr. Secretary." Powell shot back "you made reference to
the president," to which Brown responded again that Bush may have been
AWOL. "Mr. Brown, let's not go there," Powell said. "Let's just not go
there. Let's not go there in this hearing. You want to have a political
fight on this matter that's very controversial, and I think is being
dealt with by the White House, fine. But let's not go there." At one
point, Powell angrily asked one of Brown's aides "Are you shaking your
head for something, young man?" Eventually, the Congressman wised up to
the situation and shut his pie hole.
The purpose of this hearing was to gather information on intelligence
failures, not to investigate Bush's service in the National Guard. This
void surrounded by a sphincter muscle who somehow managed to get
himself sent to the congress by unionists in Northeastern Ohio decided
that he would seek his moment of fame by taking on someone with the
stature of Colin Powell.
