Liberals still can't get over it that George Bush kicked Al Gore's
*****!
Bush won the first count, Bush won the automatic recount, Bush won the
third count, the US SC puts an end to the fourth selective recount
ordered by the all left-wing liberal FL SC in four heavily democrat
counties ONLY, all the while the Gwhore team was trying to get
military absentee ballots THROWN OUT because Liberals HATE the
Military. Oh, but Bush stole the election!

Counties won by Gore: 677
Counties won by Bush: 2,434
Population of counties won by Gore: 127 million
Population of counties won by Bush: 143 million
Square miles of country won by Gore: 580,000
Square miles of country won by Bush: 2,427,000
States won by Gore: 20
States won by Bush: 30
Average Murder per 100,000 residents in counties won by Gore: 13.2
Average Murder per 100,000 residents in counties won by Bush: 2.1

Trying to understand why people turn left
Imagine if you were an apolitical person from heartland
America coming to work in Madhutden. You go to your co-op board, or
your kids' PTA and what do you hear, "Oh, those horrible people! How
can they be conservative?" You begin to realise that, well, to speak
your mind would risk getting the apartment you want or getting your
kid into the school of your choice or even of getting promoted in your
job. By contrast, in the outer boroughs, where you have competitive
elections, people actually accord their opponents some respect after
the electoral season is over. (Kind of interesting that where
elections are competitive, the voter turnout is up to three times what
it is in the inner city.) Peer pressure becomes a powerful motivator
for people who don't have the time or energy to put up with all that
grief over their beliefs - eventually it becomes a learned Pavlovian
responce and eventually it takes over even in the privacy of the
voting booth. Remember that in NYC when you go to join a union so as
to find a job, the first thing they do is check if you are registered
Democrat - if you are Republican they tell you to get lost, if you are
third party or independent, they try to convince you to become a
Democrat first. Republicans believe in being left alone but Democrat
invade your life totally - for them every action is political.
Now, the next question is why some people hold leftist views
over prolonged time. Well, some people had some negative experience
and during that time, someone from the left convinced them the right
was to blame. And what sticks to your mind when you're hurting doesn't
get unstuck with logic when you're not hurting - it's just too painful
to revisit that decision. During the Great Depression, the USA
actually had a negative net immigration. But Blacks moved northward,
which was an internal immigration, but just as life-disrupting and
life-defining as those who moved from abroad. Most Jews who
immigrated in the 1920s or the late 1940s are much more conservative
than those who arrived in the 1930s. FDR taught the Jews and Blacks to
fear anything coming from the GOP. Never mind it was Ike, not JFK who
started desegregation, and that it was Lincoln who freed the slaves.
The NY state Conservative Party was founded on the principle that
Irish families who lived through the Depression would never vote for a
Republican, but would vote for a Conservative instead. (I always
shriek at how politicians segment their voters along ethnic lines,
BTW, but there is precious little demographic information other than
race, age, sex, and party of registration available on voters to whom
pols can target their messages.)

Go back under your bridge. These statistics are bogus.
Using 1999 county-level murder-rate data, the correct values are:
Gore = 6.1 per 100,000
Bush = 4.4 per 100,000
A more appropriate calculation method involves assigning each
candidate a fraction of the murder rate in each county equal to the
fraction of votes they received in each county. This approach gives:
Gore = 5.9
Bush = 5.0
Which doesn't seem like a very significant difference considering the
fact Gore won most of the urban counties while Bush won most of the
rural counties...

Bush won, and the worst of the Demmies are still angry they failed to
steal the White House.
They took heart and decided to subvert elections before they were
held, after that. They installed Lautenberg in New Jersey and
interfered in California, too.
If they weren't so stupid and criminal, they'd just take a look at all
the dimwits they have voting Democratic who guarantee big vote totals
in every election even without the augmentation of vote fraud. The
big problems in 2000 were that Clinton dragged Gore down (Lieberman
was the "moral antidote") and Gore simply ran a lousy,
self-destructing campaign. (It's pretty bad when even the liberal
media admitted that Gore lost to Dubya in the debates. Al Gore,
losing debates to Dubya and failing to win even his own home state in
the election...)
Kerry offers nothing of substance but this election is all about Bush,
anyway.
We're still waiting to learn if Hillary is going to grab the VP
selection.

Yes, but Bush won the election by the rules. Losing and crying about the
rules is just pathetic. I lost a lot of respect for Gore after his childish
display. In his defense, the repubs would have been just as bad or worse.

Well, yes I actually think that is the way it should work, but it
doesn't, so I have to live with it. However, the stats above
are incredibly misleading unless you also point out the
simple fact that more people did, in fact, vote for Gore
than Bush.
