Lioness in zoo kills man who invoked God

A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a
lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal's enclosure, a zoo
official said on Monday.
"The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a
rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions,"
the official said.
"A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his
carotid artery."
The incident, Sunday evening when the zoo was packed with visitors, was
the first of its kind at the attraction. Lions and tigers are kept in an
"animal island" protected by thick concrete blocks.

It's funny. The first thought that entered my mind after reading about this
unfortunate fellow is that at least he had the courage of his conviction.
How many fundies reading this have *that* much faith in Jesus/God? And if
you don't, what are you doing *pretending* to be 'Christians'? Could it be
that your 'faith' is 'lukewarm' at best?
Don't take this admonishment *too* much to heart. We atheists know that your
'faith' is actually bogus when it comes right down to it.

Is it just me, or is there something of a contradiction in believing
in God & thinking that God must leap to your every whim?
This example makes it obvious, I agree, but from a religious
standpoint it's actually less pronounced than the Christians
running around proclaiming themselves "Saved" and "Born
again."
Seriously. From a purely religious standpoint, what's more
whacked: Insisting that God must preserve your life for few
more decades because you told him he had to, or deciding
that God must preserve your soul for all eternity because
you told him he had to?
I hate to say it, but as crazy & contradictory in his beliefs
as this guy is, he's still a major step up from American
fundies (i.e. "Evangelicals").
Give the guy some credit here.

Surely, he deserves a posthumous Darwin reward. He helped in cleaning
the human genetic pool facilitating his own deserved death. I do not
image any of the great stars fundies of the US would be so moron as to

I heard he implored God to shine His light upon the lioness and she
immediately folded her paws in prayer and spoke, "Oh Heavenly Father,
for what we are about to receive..."
