Little about Islam on this board |
Most of the messages posted here concern Christianity.
I think Islam, Judaism and Hinduism deserve at least the same amount
of derision.
Is atheism restricted to non-Christians, or can non-Muslims, non-Jews,
non-Hindus join?
I think it would be a good idea.

Those people aren't bothering the ***** out of the 'residents' of
alt.atheism like christians do. However, on the occasions they do
they get the same derision for the same reason christians do.

Atheism is nothing more than the lack of theism.

Muslims are responsible for most of the terrorism on earth today.
Really? You can thank GWB, and company for that.
What part of "those people aren't bothering the ***** out of the
'residents' of the alt.atheism newsgroup" did you not understand?
They
do so for religious reasons. If you disregard them because they
aren't "bothering the ***** out of" you, you're pandering to their
religious beliefs at the expense of innocent people.
There should be no recognition of any personal religious views today
by any representational government.
To do so will only take the civilized world back into the stone age.

Could you repost what you'd like to be addressed?

Little reason to attack Islam here, unless the occsional Moslem
stomps in here looking for a fight, which they do from time to
time and get.
You may try soc.culture.pakistan and the various Islam
newsgroups where there is plenty of it going on if that is
what you are looking for.
Please don't crosspost it here if you do.

You are under a couple of misconceptions.
1) alt.atheism is nay "board". It is a newsgroup, in Usenet, which is where you
are currently dipping your oar.
2) It is not conceived or maintained as a venue for paying any particular attention at all
to one brand of theist myth-worship or another. The tenor of derisive commentary is chiefly
determined by the silly pro-theism postings received, i.e. it is primarily in rebuttal. Maybe
the average intellectual accomplishment of non-xian theists is sufficient to keep their
adherents from contributing in similar numbers to the daily tonnage of silly posting
traffic, but I'm betting on the mere numerical majority of xians in the English-speaking
lands from which most postings to this ng originate.
I think it would be a good idea if fewer silly people had Usenet posting privileges,
(foregoing commentary about voting privileges) but I've been accused of being élitist.

Since the majority of posters to alt.atheism hail from Britain or one of

Sorry.
I need to take a break..to kill people who don't think that selling
female children into slavery is alright, and that by doing so, I'll
get to one of the 7 levels of paradise...and that making women wear
potato sacks in sweltering heat will get me even closer, and that
killing everyone who doesn't agree with me will make me holier?
Or that: If I don't mix meat and dairy products I'll be a wonderful
person...or that if I don't turn my lights on after sunset on Friday
nights, (but I can pay someone else to turn them on), ...if I don't
eat pork, but dredge everything I eat in salt, I will be a better
person than everyone else.
Or: I worship an elephant-headed god, whose father came home from
fighting the wars and suspected that his son was his wife's lover,
lopped off his head, and, upon realizing his mistake, replaced it with
the head of the first creature he came upon. (If he had that kind of
power, why didn't he just put his son's own head back on)?
Sorry, I guess I'm just stupid.

We Atheists thought about referring to all religious zombies as "believers",
rather than the catch-all word "Christians" (xians for short), but then it
occurred to us that this may be interpreted as an insult to all those good
folks who actually still believe in one of the following: the Easter Bunny,
Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Social Security, Abstinence, Criminal Justice,
the virtue of virginity, the success story of the war on drugs, the
definition of what "is" is ...etc.

The very large majority of alt.atheism posters are from the US, Canada,
the UK and Australia. In these countries, Christianity is by far the
dominant religion. It is what we know and it is what we have to deal with
day in and day out, from the Christian extremists who are taking over the
US to the Official State Church in the UK.
Atheism is not limited to any particular flavor of theist belief. We just
talk about our experiences and what we know :-)

Most of us target Christianity because of its illogical & contradictory
