Object: Little historical tidbit from the Jasenovac Concentration Camp
On the night of August 29, 1942, bets were made as to who could
liquidate the largest number of inmates. Father Petar Brzica, a
Catholic priest, cut the throats of 1,360 prisoners with a especially
designed butcher's knife (called srbosjek or Serb-cutter). Having been
proclaimed the prize-winner of the competition, he was dubbed "King of
the Cut-throats". A gold watch, a silver service, a roasted suckling
pig, and wine were among his rewards.

If true, disgusting beyond even *approaching* 'disgusting'.
And I sit out here in a psychological stupor asking how on *earth*
'Christians' (mainly Catholics) could treat a fellow 'neighbor' so
inhumanely?
Why I need to have my head examined! Or maybe it's the 'love thy neighbor as
thyself' and 'Do unto others as ye would have them do unto you' rabid
followers of Jesus who need their religious insanity analyzed and treated.
What retarded thinking. What depraved thinking. Doesn't their imagined Jesus
have the supernatural power to make these so-called 'Christians' see what a
mockery they're making of the Christian 'faith'?
Ahhhh. Just feels wonderful to be a moral atheist, doesn't it? The insanely
hypocritical buffoons!
And here's something to ponder. We all know that there are those who profess
to be Christians and most certainly *act* like the type of 'Christian' we
atheists perceive to be of the 'genuine' variety: those who though still
fully believing in the supernatural stuff, nevertheless, are truly
noble-minded in heart and mind and who absolutely *detest* what their
artificial brethren do in the name of Jesus-God -- absolutely *detest* it!
Well, the ironic thing here is that we moral atheists are *more* like the
'real' Christian than the 'Christians' of the religious right -- and most
*certainly* Catholic Father, Petar Brzica, in the above -- could *ever*
possibly hope to be. *Real* Christians *are* tolerant of others. The
'artificial' ones exemplified by Father Petar Brzica in the above and those
out here treating me so inhumanely have shown they are incapable of
tolerance when it comes to their own particular 'Christian' belief-system.
Just incapable of it.
The real Christian and the moral atheist have no need to be at each other's
throats. And, in fact, we aren't. It's those phony-balonies that are the
root of our present 'culture war'. And here we atheists and the Christians
of noble mind and spirit can stand side-by-side, work together for the
common good, and stand the intolerant, murderous, members of the religious
right down and take the first baby-steps in righting what's wrong with
America.
I will just close with this: Any individual or group of individuals who
would approach a Christian minister and ask him to refrain from supplying
anymore food to a besieged atheist under veritable 'house arrest' and
captivity is/are plainly evil. There is no sugar-coating that fact. And
here's another fact: *Real* Christians, and I'm speaking here of elected
public officials, wouldn't *stand* for this kind of abuse and inhumanity for
a minute. If only on moral grounds. On humane grounds. We all know *that*.
So what brand of Christian would permit this kind of abuse and mistreatment
without intervening and putting a stop to it at some point?
Well, you tell me.
I know I'm guilty of injecting more of my own personal dilemma in places
where they really don't quite 'fit'. But how I connect this heinous incident
at the Jasenovac Concentration Camp and my own ordeal out here in Wausaukee,
Wisconsin is that in both situations you have so-called 'Christians'
behaving in the most despicable manner and all the while not even *thinking*
that they've done anything immoral. *We* sure as hell can see the depraved
hypocrisy involved here. Question is: Why can't *they*?

Interesting how the Wiki Article now neglects the word "Father" and
the words "a Catholic priest".
Perhaps someone who knows to use wikipedia should go and correct this
omission.

The wiki article, it seems, is being repeatedly vandalisted by Croat
Catholic Racists and Genocide Sympathisers, motivated by religion, or
so it seems. It did manage to find a picture of three of the killers
from the camp, one of them was a priest, but I might have to dig a bit
to find it again.
There is also absolutely no doubt that the catholics motivated and
incited the murders. The conditions inside the camp were so barbaric
even the Nazis condemned them.

Ok...so far (in the time since the last post) I haven't found a
reference for Petar Bryzica, but I have established pretty quickly
that it was very much the fault of thes catholic church, and that at
least one Friar was involved in the killings. (Miroslav Filipovic-
Majstorovic).

Shouldn't be too hard, the Wiki has the priests name the same, it just
omits the "Father" and "Catholic Priest" bits. I suspect that was on
the wiki and then removed, but I'm not very good at using wikipedia.

There guy mentioned is fairly well documented, there are arguments as
to whether he was a priest or not, or whether he was excommunicated
(unlikely, as the catholics sanctioned the genocide in Croatia).

Not good enough for me, at least.
It may well be pure fiction, for all I know.
A famous Australian example of one such fraud is that of so-called

My point is that it is mere unsupported anecdote and solo accusation.
I require far more evidence than that, as I do for any serious claim.
So far, I do not believe a word of it.

Helen Demedenko:

I wouldn't necessairily say it is outright fraud, even if not true or
wildly exaggerated. Survivors with PTSD are likely to have some fairly
tall tales and it is documented that the camp was one of the worst,
people were killed with knives,a nd that the whole thing was heavily
catholic sanctioned. The motivation was allegedly A 100% catholic
Croatia

My point is that it is mere unsupported anecdote and solo accusation.

I require far more evidence than that, as I do for any serious claim.
So far, I do not believe a word of it.

Yarr, after a bit more searching the trail goes rather cold. If one
were to report it, one would have to be very careful to state that it
is an allegation.
The fact that the catholics effectively ran and promoted the camp, on
the other hand, is in little doubt.

Like I have suggested previously, this is not good enough.
Similar frauds have been perpetrated and uncovered in the past.
