The Guardian
Fantastic news: scientists have deciphered the X chromosome! This is
really good for many reasons: 1) it gives science journalists another
opportunity to explain chromosomes, genes and DNA to people like me -
I've read it 728 times and I think I'm beginning to get it; 2) it lays
the ground for treatments, cures or at the very least further
understanding of about 300 hereditary diseases and conditions,
including autism, muscular dystrophy, obesity, deafness, blindness,
epilepsy, anaemia, leukaemia, and infertility (though I find myself
wondering how that can be hereditary); 3) it will explain the
difference between men and women.
