Lunar eclipse right now! |
Totality's already ended, but if anyone hasn't seen the eclipse yet, it
should be visible until around 10 PM or so EST. Go outside and look!

Yeah, but as you rightly characterize it, this is a myth. Modern science
knows that the moon is too high to be reached by any mere mindless natural
sky dragon. Therefore we can be confident it's really a large purple newt.
This is what's known to scientists as an "explanatory filter". Once
you've ruled out all the other possibilities you can think of, the one
you've put at the end of the list must be true.

You have no explanation for the question where the first purple newt
came from. This proves there are no newts.
The sky dragon, OTOH, being infinite and transcending time, simply
created itself.

I saw it. The shadow was (as is typical of lunar eclipses) a sort of dark
rusty hue, like dried blood. The moon has been turned to blood! And there
have already been meteor showers this year (stars falling from the
heavens!). And wasn't there a solar eclipse earlier in the year (the sun
turned black as sackcloth!)? And let's not even get into the wars and
rumors of wars this year. The nations have been busy rising up against
nations. It's the end of days, I tell you! And that's from someone who's
seen a lot of successful predictions of the end of the world (hey, they sold
books; that the world didn't technically end doesn't take away from that).

Hmph! The sky was nice and clear almost until the moon was completely
covered. Then, the clouds rolled in. So much for the second part of
the total eclipse in Philly.
Here in Buffalo we missed the May eclipse because it was overcast and rainy.
Tonight it was crystal clear outside although a bit nippy. The view was
spectacular. One of the best lunar eclipses I remember seeing.

Totality's already ended, but if anyone hasn't seen the eclipse yet, it
should be visible until around 10 PM or so EST. Go outside and look!
You've been punked. Since, as we all know the earth is flat, it couldn't
possibly cast a round shadow on the moon. Looks like NASA pulled another
one over on the gullible public yet again.
No, no, no, no. The earth is round. Just it's like a dinner plate. Like
the BIBLE says.
So, yeah, it can cast a round shadow.
And god can play frisbee with it too...
So that explains my constant dizziness!
Is he playing with Canis Major or Minor?

Neither. The hypothesis that he plays with Cannabis has far greater
explanatory power.

I have to confess managing to just forget about it. Even though the
AOLized No News channel went on and on and on and ON about it with their
STUPID pun about the moon and your eye and pizza pie.
