"Man-Eating Lions Come to the Rescue of a 12-Year-Old Kidnapped |
An amazing story out of Ethiopia tells of a 12-year-old girl who was
kidnapped and beaten by men trying to force her into marriage, when
three lions came to her aid, chasing off her attackers and guarding the
young girl until police arrived.
According to the report by the AP, the girl's abductors held her for
seven days, beating her repeatedly until, suddenly, three Ethiopian
lions chased them away. The lions, normally known for attacking people,
stood guard over the traumatized girl; then, when her family and the
police found her, "they just left her like a gift and went back into
the forest."

The "forrest"? In Ethiopia? Lions? Are there forrests in Ethiopia? Do
lions live in forrests? I didn't think so.

Except that male lions will kill cubs that don't belong to them, as will
almost any member of the cat family if given a chance.

I wonder.
Our mythology, is full of stories of Fen children.
Now assuming that this story from Ethiopia, is true; could it be that this
quirky behaviour among a group of lions, is the root of the stories?
It does come to mind that these were male lions, and the child was female.

Assuming the basic truth of the story, it seems much more likely that
the police arrived just before the lions decided which of them got to
eat first.

Agreed. I was just speculating a little.

Or they had just eaten their fill, and were saving her for later.
