I was reading Manny's latest opus to my wife, and
her resulting comment was 'This is a human being
that doesn't pass the Turing Test.'

I'll leave the witty repostes to others. Me, I simply wonder about him.
Obviously, he has difficulty with the English language. But I can't put
my finger on any specific language group that might make the same kind
of mistakes that Manny makes.
Years ago (in California, at least) there was a movement in the public
schools to teach kids how to read purely by phonetics. It was called
ITA, and it had its own special alphabet. Certain dipthongs (such as
the "ng" sound) were represented by a symbol unseen in ordinary
English. Everything else was spelled exactly as it sounded. "Wot a bizy
dae" meant "What a busy day."
A couple of my younger cousins were taught to read and write this way
and, to this day, although they are bright, successful individuals,
they still have difficulty reading ordinary English or expressing
themselves in writing.
Do you think Manny is a product of some overzealous education major's
doctoral thesis gone horribly awry?

You mean *written* language, surely? Sorry to nit-pick, but other
animals communicate with (what could be described as) language.

Boy, I've never seen an issue so divisive. It's like a civil war,
isn't it? Even amongst my friends, who are all very intelligent
people, they are totally divided on abortion. Some of my friends, for
instance, think these pro-life people are annoying idiots. Others of
my friends think these pro-life people are evil fucks.
How are we going to come to a consensus?
You want to hear the arguments around my house.
"They're annoying!"
"They're idiots!"
"They're evil!"
"They're fucks!"
Brothers, sisters come together! Can't we once just join hands and
think of them as evil annoying idiot fucks?

communication of various kinds exist in other species, no one has run with
