Marquis de Sade quote |
To judge from the notions expounded by theologians, one must conclude
that God created most men simply with a view to crowding hell. Marquis

Well....If you believe in Purgatory or hell than hell is the earth.
Where else can pain and suffering exist until the final end? And look
at the population of earth; it's getting crowded. Earthquakes, fires,
floods, disease, starvation, war, and genocide, these do not sound
like heavenly things.

If you have ever read any de Sade you would know that he is virulently
anti-Church.

I got through a couple of chapters of Justine, and could not take
anymore.
I was just a teenager, I have no desire to read it again.

Not recommending it, not at all. My only point was that he was
explicitly political and explicitly anti-Catholic.
