disappear on their own. If that were the case...
a) Antibiotics would be sold over-the-counter.
b) Accidents, murder, or suicide would be the only cause of death.

Why do you say that? I don't see how that follows - antibiotics are
dangerous drugs.
b) Accidents, murder, or suicide would be the only cause of death.
Among young people, they are the most common. As we age, our immune systems
become unbalanced. Either it fails to fight off attacks, or else it turns
on its own body and we get the so-called autoimmune diseases such as
arthritis, diabetes, and so on.
MrD is basically right...
Most diseases are self-limiting - you'll recover without treatment, though
you may suffer longer. Most people don't have access to medical care. If
they survive infancy, they usually manage to get by for decades without
treatment.
Think of this - antibiotics were discovered in the 1940's (sulfa drugs are
older, but they were dangerous to use). Before that, there was basically
nothing to fight infections. Yet people routinely recovered from them.
True, the death rate from infection was much higher than it is now - but
even so, most people recovered.
Much of the stuff your body can't shake off is presently incurable by
medicines...

I didn't say all diseases, I said most.
Are you so desperate to win a point that you'll make them up?
Why don't you just slow down and think about what has been said?
