Object: McClellan: Dems appeasing ACLU
Just the fact that the ACLU opposes the Patriot Act would have to make the
legislations harshest critics re-evaluate that stance. It's a shame this
administration tied the war on terror with the illegal war in Iraq, because
they are doing a terrific job protecting the homeland; immigration issues
aside.

McClellan: Dems appeasing ACLU
Spokesman slams pols for holding up Patriot Act reauthorization
Presidential press secretary Scott McClellan today agreed that the
American Civil Liberties Union has been irresponsible in its comments about
the president and that Democrats are appeasing the left-wing legal group
vis-à-vis the Patriot Act.
WND pointed out in today's White House briefing that the ACLU ran a
full-page ad in the New York Times criticizing President Bush over
warrantless wiretapping, claiming he "lied to the American people and broke
the law."
"The ACLU - this is one of the special interest groups that Democrats
in the Senate are trying to appease because they want to weaken and
undermine the Patriot Act," McClellan said. "The Patriot Act is vital to
saving lives. . It has also met an important commitment to protect people's
civil liberties.
"Democrats need to set aside politics - they're putting politics above
our nation's security and they need to move forward in the Senate and let it
be reauthorized."
Asked WND: "Doesn't he think the ACLU is very irresponsible?"
Responded the spokesman: "Well, I think some of the statements that
they make - that they are making sure are."

In what way are they doing a "terrific job" of protecting the homeland? The
9-11 commission says the Bush admin is doing a horrible job of implementing
recomendations. NOTHING has been done to increase security at our ports.
Less than 5% of inbound shipping containers are ever inspected in any way.
That's pretty good odds for someone wanting to smuggle a nuke into the
country.

So...what kind of 'patriot' is this troll "J Young"?:
"US Military = Human Filth
Break through this "support our troops" mind-control rubbish. Treat
the public to the truth. To support murderers in their acts of
murder is unthinkable.
People join the US military for either wholly selfish or downright
diabolical reasons. I've never yet met a patriot among present-day
military people. They love Israel first, last, and always. They'd
rape and murder their own Grandma if was good for their careers, or if
it served Israel.
Now the US military is wrapping our flag, our Bill of Rights, and the
most noble and most precious ideals of our Founding Fathers around an
unspeakable atrocity. I intend to print this message
US Military = Human Filth
And put it on the back of my car window."

"not all Presidents are beloved and fondly remembered. Abraham
Lincoln is not warmly embraced in the Deep South, nor is he revered in
the Native-American community. More Americans died in battle under his
administration than all of our other wars combined. His suspension of
"habeus corpus" is still debated in legal circles today. Perhaps the
question Americans should be asking is whether such a controversial
figure is worthy of the honors bestowed upon him (picture on $5 bill,
Mt. Rushmore, Lincoln Memorial, ect..) by a small segment of society;
mainly coloreds and liberals."

Emperor Bush believes that he is above the law, and shouldn't have to be
accountable to anyone. I believe that makes him a despot, according to my
dictionary. In that the court that issues the warrants for wiretaps has
only declined 4 of them, while it has approved thousands, it's not like it
would have been a big deal to do it legally.
But of course, to do that, GW would have to admit that he is not the
Supreme Dictator of the Free World, as he seems to think he is.

Think about what J Blo is saying...he isn't even bothering to use
the war as justification--all that counts to him is keeping anyone who isn't
just like him--doesn't agree with him, doesn't believe what he does, is told
by others that he threatens him--under someone's thumb.
