McMartin 20 years later |
20 years ago the most expensive trial in U. S. history has its start with
the accusations of a mentally disturbed who would have been in a mental
institution had it not been for the civil rights activities of the 1970's
which opened the doors to the asylums. She observed a rash on her child's
bottom and -- using her Christian fundamentalist Christian delusions --
launched the McMartin Preschool fiasco.
One of the individuals of this modern day Christian witch hunt was James
Morris who spent over five years in prison despite the fact that there was
not a shred of evidence that any crime had been committed -- leave alone
any evidence that Morris had committed any crimes.
Much of the tyranny was delt against the McMartin witch hunt victims by
the hands of Janet Reno, another insane woman who believes that there's a
world-wide "Satanic" conspiracy where there are upwards of around 300,000
babies ritually birthed, raped, killed, and eaten in just the United States
alone. (Reno committed like atrocities in the State of Florida and then
got involved in the Branch Davidian screw-ups.)
Today Morris is allegedly sueing Lael Rubin and, I would hope, the District
Attorney's office that bought into the insane notions of "Satanists"
running around the country raping, killing and eating people's babies.
The allegations against Rubin are probably on the Internet; I'll have to
look them up. But many of the "confessions" brainwashed out of the
children in the area of the Preschool included being cut to pieces, being
transported to Puru through underground tunnels to a nearby airfield,
having their blood drank, getting sewed back together, and being returns
to the school, all before being picked up against by their parents at the
end of the day. It was _these_ kinds of claims that the DA's office
took as evidence the McMartins were engaged in ritual crimes.
About 6 years ago I received email from one of the insane women who bought
into the "world-wide Satanic conspiracy" beliefs and a check found that
her name was one of the more notorious; she had eventually acquired her
"memories" from her therapist who then married her.
She told me that there are is in fact irrefutable evidence of underground
tunnels under McMartinc Preschool and to back up her claims she offered
"evidence" in the form of tree branches, roots, and a rusted tin can
that was "excavated" (actually dug up with a shovel) from the lawns.
20 years and most of the victims have yet to acquire justice.

(parents) by a forensic geologist (should know about tunnels). this page
is often left out.
Also there are GIF files of the DA papers on the tunnels as well.

I see psychoanalysis as a contractual conversation about a person's
problems and how to resolve them. I tried to avoid the idea, which seemed
to be particularly pernicious, that the therapist knows more about the
patient than the patient himself. That seems to me so offensive. How can
you know more about a person after seeing him a few hours, a few days, or
even a few months, than he knows about himself? He has known himself a lot
longer!

And the real world's all we've got. Believers in the supernatural claim to
have special wisdom about the world. But real wisdom means knowing truth
from falsehood, knowing the difference between evidence and wishful
thinking. Yes, the real world is mysterious and sometimes frightening. But
would the supernatural make it better? The real world has beauty, poetry,
love and the joy of honest discovery. Isn't that enough?
