Object: Mel Gibson hates Jesus?
I've run across complaints that Mel Gibson's new Jesus film is
gratuitously violent, and I've read that Gibson filmed his own hands
in the scene where a Roman soldier nails Jesus to the cross.
Now, I have to wonder if Mel unconsciously feels hostile towards
Jesus, and in a kind of public Freudian slip projected that
hostility onto the screen. It's quite possible for people to believe
in and worship their gods without liking or loving them very much.
Maybe the film evokes such powerful emotions because it accidently
plugs into christians' forbidden desire to beat the crap out of
their deity, at least vicariously.

Well, that doesn't seem particularly accurate, now does it? While
possible with shims or other supports, the wrist has long been thought to
be the more logical place.
