Mel Gibson is an idiot |
Saw Mel Gibson hawking his film the other day, said something to the
effect of "I had achieved the pinnacle of what the secular world had
to offer, and it wasn't enough...it just wasn't enough..."
I just love hearing multimillionaire celebrities whining about how
unfulfilled they are.
So he becomes a bible thumper and spends 30 mil to make a
sadomasochistic film to purge his soul. Hell, better that than waste
that 30 mil on some charitable cause, donate it to medical research
etc. to assuage his emptiness.
Hey Mel, ever consider that maybe you're just a bonehead? It might not
be your fault, your Dad's obviously a whacko.
Oh that's right, gotta leave it alone Diane...gotta leave it alone.

Add to that the fact that he's whining about his freedoms being taken
away because people are attacking him for making the movie that he was,
uh, FREE to make and distribute, and you have a picture of a fairly
silly man.

Or crafty. Think of all the free advertising he's getting.
Will anyone be surprised if his movie makes back the
investment in the first week?

Amen. I'm really, really sick of right wing whining about how
oppressed they are (or complaining about Dems not being
nice enough to the President, as if the Arkansas Project
or the whole impeachment farce had never happened).
Check out Betty Bowers' review of The Passion:
http://www.bettybowers.com/melgibsonpassion.html
Here's an excerpt that is apropos to your comment:
"Mel Gibson shrewdly marketed this film in a manner
made popular by many wealthy, privileged neocon
Christians in America -- by claiming to be the victim of a
persecution so insidious it has it leaves no visible traces."
My other favorite bit:
"I'm proud that I live in a country where witnessing
two hours of bloody, barbarous torture in gloating
detail is considered indicia of religious piety, whereas
a mere second gazing upon a woman's breast is cause
for outraged apoplexy."
I'd give a lot to be able to write a single sentence of
satire as good as what you see on the Betty Bowers
or Landover Baptist websites. And they crank it
out by the barrel full. Amazing stuff.
Best, Marc

SEX IS MORE THREATENING THAN MURDER
By Newton Joseph
God men are constantly attacking our immorality. Our immorality seems
to center
around sex, and yet at the same time they are ignorantly condoning the
worst of
immoral acts; murder.
If Pat Robertson and the Pope and thousands of preachers really want
to see
America moral, let them start a campaign to outlaw guns, and the
manufacture of all
weapons, instead of their campaign to hassle homosexuals. Is
homosexuality more
threatening to these God men then murder? If so, they are announcing
to the world
they are immoral.

No. No. No. You have Christianity all wrong. It isn't about charity,
it's about collecting souls the way a Native American would collect
scalps. Isn't that what the "Devil's advocate" said at Mother Theresa's
beatification hearing? That she told him she coulddn't care less about
social change. It was all about soul collecting.
No, I'm sure Mel thinks this movie gives him way-bigger karma points with
the Big Guy than some dumb charity.
Unfortunately, I doubt it will even "purge his soul". It's likely to make
him crazier now that he is getting labled as crazy because he can identify
that much closer with Jesus for being "persecuted".

Yep, have you noticed how twitchy he's been in interviews recently.
He's acting like his "Lethal Weapon" character on crack. Scary.
