MELTZER ON PBS-SEATTLE TO DISCUSS PLEDGE THURSDAY, OCT. 23
Bart Meltzer, American Atheists Field Operations Director, will be the
guest tomorrow night -- Thursday, October 23, 2003 -- on the Seattle
PBS station KCTS (channel 9) for a panel discussion of the Pledge of
Allegiance issue.
Are the words "under God" appropriate? Constitutional?
In addition to Mr. Meltzer, other guests will represent the American
Civil Liberties Union, Pacific Legal Foundation, and the Knights of
Columbus. The latter organization initiated the public campaign in the
1950s which eventually prompted the U.S. Congress to order the words
"under God" included in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The program is titled "KCTS Connects," and will air live from 7 PM to 8
PM PDT tomorrow, Thursday, October 23, 2003. This discussion MAY be
webcast live, or available at a later date, so visit
http://www.kcts.org. There will be a live call-in segment, and viewers
may phone 1-800-443-9991.
